Abandoned Trains in Colegiales, Buenos Aires.

Two days ago I discovered a new place in the city, it's a large park with a beautiful design. This park is located in the Colegiales neighborhood in Capital Federal right near the train station with the same name. I was just walking around until I came across this place but I realized that in a closed area there were tracks and some abandoned trains, It caught my attention because in fact I have been working in this field for some years.

I don't know exactly how long you have had these trains here but when I saw them I knew that they are quite obsolete, they are old or antique models that circulated on the MITRE branch.

All the trains were covered in paint, which some assume is street art but in my opinion it is not. I don't really see anything artistic in those paintings. Could it be considered an act of vandalism?

I did a little research on this and the truth is I haven't found much information, in fact there is very little on the web.

Some consider it a junkyard, these types of warehouses are in other parts of the city but very far from the federal capital, on the outskirts. What I don't understand is how it is possible to inaugurate a park with a beautiful, large design and have this stage next to it that looks like a train dump. There is something unrelated, I suppose there are political reasons in all this.

A little of what I read is that they are Japanese trains that have circulated in the city for many years, decades, they made long-distance trips and since they have been renovated, they left them stranded in the middle of the city.

In this photo you can see a kind of separate division with a fence where we see the rusty scrap metal on one side and the park on the other side. It's called the Colegiales railway park.

Here we have another view of what this place is and in the background on the left one of the new trains is entering.

I have read a news story from 2016 also related to this, where the residents of the area had complaints about the permanence of these abandoned trains. Concerns about health issues due to dengue, so it seems that this is not something new and that it has been around for a long time.

If I see it from a photographic perspective as a setting in that sense I could say that it is great and that even a portrait session there would be very interesting and creative.

DSC_0778_1.jpg

From the social and environmental angle this changes completely.

It's difficult for me to find places like these, discovering this gives me the possibility of sharing it with you here where in addition to appreciating this place you could appreciate the photography, don't you think?

DSC_0819.jpg

I am planning to return but with the intention of focusing on the recently inaugurated railway park for the enjoyment of the citizens and residents of the neighborhood.

This way I could give it another focus and highlight the beauty of the park itself :)

That's all folks! Thanks for stopping by and appreciating.

Thanks for the support @wilfredocav friend!

They are nice, did you not climb into any of them?

There is no access to where the trains are but I thought about jumping the fence. Maybe one day I'll do it hahaha

Thanks for stopping by Stephen friend :)

ah that is a shame cheers Dimas 👍

Nice urban exploration. They painted vehicles look very nice.
I think these photos could be also very nice in black and white maybe.

I think exactly the same. I have left some photos of these trains to edit in black and white :) I think there will be something interesting. If you don't have a problem, I'll tag you in that post.

Thanks for your nice suggestion and your feedback my friend!

No problem! Sure, you can tag me...

The fifth photo is my favourite. Interesting post, because you don't often see train graveyards, certainly not where I live at least!

There are plenty of cool art scenes in your city my friend. I’m amazed by the talent over there, they made the abandoned trains look like an art gallery.

The artworks made the place look vibrant. Thanks for sharing these nice photos 👏 👍

Your narrative of the abandoned trains in Colehiales really transports you to this atmospheric corner of the city. The photos and the story of how these trains became part of the urban landscape fill a special mood. It is felt that these places keep many stories and memories. Thank you for the opportunity to look at these unusual objects from a new perspective and especially these photos, they are so extravagant, I love this style🤩😮✨
