With the way Nigeria is going, I believe it is time that we all wake up and do what is right. For a long time, we have all been carried away by our selfish desires and the urgency to feed our ego that we may have forgotten the essence of our entire existence.
...love thy neighbor as thyself, this is the greatest commandment...
We are on earth not for ourselves. Quite alright we have ambitions and aspirations but they are all put within us to work for a better life not just for ourselves, but also for those around us.
Think about it. If the world would just stop and the people would be kind to one another, there would be great improvement. The reason for our country's current situation is the lack of love. Selfishness has risen to it's highest and the ranks of love has sunk to the gutter.
While we may not be able to effect change immediately, we can start gradually beginning with ourselves. Let us be honest and true to ourselves:
- When last did we do a random act of kindness?
- When last did we put ourselves in the shoes of others?
- When last did move back to let the other person through or even hold the door?
- When last did we respond in love rather than anger?
Do not look at this questions at face level. Have you never enjoyed the joy that comes with helping others? I feel most happy when I have been of help to someone. This is because my humanity shows itself and I live my calling; I become who I was meant to be.
The greatest cure for a sore heart (especially in Nigeria) is love and kindness. Yes, many will not respond in kind but you do not have to lash back. Always #speeklove, always #speekpeece. Be a vessel, a healing balm.
I, Dreemer Deraa, makes the conscious decision today to be a vessel of love. To speak good to and of my nation, Nigeria. To love and to hold. To support and be bold. I will respond in love and never try to talk down, criticize or castigate anyone. So help me God!
Pray for Nigeria
