I hear this so many times;
...it's just to make money like this and jappa from this country.
I'm like, "what?" You want to jappa from this place and do what? Now don't get me wrong guys. It's not a crime to travel. Personally, I would love to go see other places and change environment for a while. However, I'm addressing a much bigger problem. Some people's all in all is to get a lot of money and leave this country, that is, both escaping from and forgetting about this country forever. This is some people's goal in life; just to get rich and live the "good" life away from Nigeria.
That's so sad. No purpose whatsoever. Let's forget about the 'escape from Nigeria' part for a sec. Some people just want to get rich. I'm talking... no desire to make a positive impact on anyone or anything, no love for people and an empty sense of fulfilment that can only accept wealth as it's sustainer. This isn't meant to be so.
It's because of this reason that some people of age will tell me that they don't have strength to go and vote. They'll tell me, "las las, na person wey them wan may e win, na im go win am. I also get this one; wetin concern me concern Naija? Na the bag we dey find. Such nonchalance! These people are in essence already saying that it can never be well with Nigeria, no matter how hard we try.
Kai!
I recently started to develop a love for Nigeria. For long, the only thing on my mind, morning till night was money, money and more money, although my drive was not just to get money and comot forever, rather it was to go to a sophisticated music school and study classical music (because that's actually one of my greatest passions). That's a story for another day. However, an overwhelming love for this country has begun to fill me and it came to me when I began to ask myself, "isn't there more than this to live for?"
This love that overshadowed me even made me to begin to listen to and read news, which is something I didn't fancy before. It also made me begin to study the history of Nigeria. Fun fact, did you know that Nigeria was just at first a business transaction?
I want to know what went wrong!
I want to change this nation 🇳🇬. This country is filled with too many talents to be useless like this.
Guys, please don't jappa. This nation is weeping and it needs our help. Of course it doesn't mean that you must go and fight the president and begin a revolution and do stuff like that. There are more little things that can be done like feeding the poor, helping the needy, voting when necessary, enlightening the ignorant and so on. Ah, there are opportunities for showing kindness everywhere.
Come to think of it sef, who said that life "over there" is the good life? Hmmm, that's deception. Of course it is true that Nigeria is not economically stable but other countries have their own problems.
Let's not share in their problems but instead, fight against ours.
