MY DRAMATIC WEEK

This week began with stress as a major factor. Maybe it's because I didn't have the easter break I wanted as we were asked to come to work, or because the week was just going to be so stressful regardless.

Three major dramas happened this week, and I do not know how I escaped them all.

First, on Monday, while everyone was enjoying the break, I went to work to "delight customers". I already knew I was having no break, but I didn't envision it to be this bad. A friend of mine invited me for a seminar, which I expected to be a classy one. I closed from work to get to the venue on time. I was made to believe that the seminar was for selected people, an NGO programme and I was going to learn a lot and be allowed to help people. I got there, it was something else entirely.

The fact that I wasted my time, my transportation fare and my energy to go listen to a lady talk about how she achieved her dreams in a very unrealistic way pained me. I didn't even stay up to 30 minutes before leaving, I couldn't afford to waste my time anymore on such an unfulfilling event.

Tuesday came, after I closed from work, I went to the usual spot where I get a vehicle straight to my junction. It's usually the survival of the fittest when it comes to getting a vehicle because a whole lot of people go in my direction. Then this vehicle drove up to where I stood, and it turned out he was going in my direction, his price was even cheaper than what I had seen so far. I was about to board the vehicle when my heart skipped a beat and I sensed fear from within me.

I got confused and had to look around. I noticed they were all strong hardened faced men, and the car had no inner doorknob, not to think of how dirty and untidy the interior of the car looked. The driver himself looked like an ex-convict. There was no way my instincts, and racing heart was lying. I just came down fully. I wasn't going to be the sacrifice for the day.

Immediately I alighted from the vehicle, it zoomed off with speed. People from nowhere started telling me how lucky I was because the vehicle was not registered in the area, and the occupants looked suspicious. I was really happy I listened to my instincts.

Thursday came with its drama. My Instagram account got hacked. This was the highlight of the week. I was so worried. I had no idea what to do. The hacker changed my password, email address and my phone number. I didn't know how it happened but I knew I was in a big mess.

I called a few of my friends and they all said I should let the account go. I was pained at the thought of my friends falling for the scam and being a victim. Then my boyfriend told me to come over, so he could try other means. That was when my ATM card, my mobile app and my USSD had a downtime. I wasn't with enough money to transport me to his place. I had to beg a passerby to assist me with some cash because I didn't know what else to do.

Finally, I went to his place and he helped me report to IG. I was asked some questions which I answered correctly and also asked to do a video of myself to prove I was the owner. At about 1:25 a.m today, I was able to recover my account.

With all the happenings of the week, I woke up with a runny temperature today and I knew I wasn't fit to go to work. I called in sick and just rested.

My week was filled with drama, but I thank God I came out fine.

You're welcome @megpeters, nice achievement!t Keep going 😊🌹

It's funny how those people didn't alert you as soon as you entered, only made mention after you came down based on instinct.

One time in Abuja I was about entering a taxi and a guy immediately dragged me back because he suspected they were bad people. I hadn't been to that part of town so I was completely oblivious of how bad guys operate there. I wonder what would have happened if he didn't stop me.

That's how lagosians behave sometimes. It's really annoying.

Thank God you got dragged by that guy.
