Living in a country with a shit load of uncertainties

Yesterday just made me realize how we live in a country filled with uncertainties. Yes, life is filled with uncertainties but there are certain things one should be certain about for fucks sake.

Going to a place of worship and not getting shot up by some fuckers should be something I should be a little certain about. Going out of my house and not getting kidnapped for some ridiculous amount of money as ransom should be something I should be a little certain about. Graduating from university at the supposed time should be something I should be certain about.

The inhumane act that was carried out yesterday in Owo Ondo state had me numb for most of the evening. I had to log off Twitter for my mental health but it was hard to get rid of the thoughts of those who lost their parents, siblings, and relatives as a result of that barbaric act carried.

I kept on asking myself questions as to why a person or a group of persons would just decide to do a thing like that. I believe and I know that nothing should permit a person to do such a thing.

Just when I thought I was getting my mind back from all the previous thoughts from the massacre in Owo, my mum who went to visit an uncle of mine who got kidnapped over a month ago and got released a few days back told me about a church behind Rijana in Kaduna state that also got shot up yesterday and I almost lost it.

I was waiting to hear how my uncle was recovering from his traumatic experience at the hands of the kidnappers but hearing about what happened behind rijana was the end of the day for me.

My mum was telling me how scared she was while she was going to visit my uncle in rijana and even while she was in the church during the worship service. That feeling of fear and uncertainty is something no one is supposed to feel for being a Nigerian and living in Nigeria.

Growing up I never thought getting kidnapped and getting killed even after the ransom is paid or getting shot up while in the church will be a person will lose his or her life. This is really not it.

The uncertainties attached to living in this country cuts across every part of our lives. Being a student in a university owned by the federal government is a nightmare.

Not knowing when you’ll resume school even after spending 5 months at home waiting for the federal government to reach an agreement with the union is just torture and no student should have to go through that.

I really just hope this country gets better because this is not what we should have to go through every day of our lives for only being a Nigerians who lives in Nigeria.

Nowhere is safe, we keep living in fear and the insecurity keeps getting out of hand day by day.
I pray it gets better

I pray so too 🙏🏾
