Good evening everyone,

Today I will be participating in the #hivenaija question for the week "My thoughts on Immigration"

Do you want to immigrate??

Uhmm....I have always had this dream of traveling outside the country ,just to go further my education as well as to apply for a job not because there are no good educational institutions here in Nigeria but because the lives of students in schools are not safe, also the teachers in schools are not been properly paid this leads to strike which could make a student spend more years in school than they normally should. Also there are not much companies or industries for people to work in ,this is as a result of less job opportunities.

How do you feel about live in a different country?

Life in a different country might be a bit harsh on me as I am always used to moving freely without been questioned, and as a stranger in a country you might get restricted from going to some places.

Also I would have to start a new life with set of new friends and people which I am not used to ,I am also not used to staying very far away from my parents.

Would that make you happy?

Uhmm.. basically I feel me been happy depends on the country I choose to travel to . For instance I won't expect to travel to a country like North Korea where people are not been giving freedom to move freely or access the internet and still be happy.

Why is living in Nigeria hard for you??

Well there are lots of reasons why living in Nigeria has been hard for me. First is sudden increase in price of goods and services ,for months now the price of goods and services in Nigeria has been overwhelming, people have had to spend more of their earnings on foodstuffs.

Also due to inadequate security in this country I have had to live in fear,I am not able to move freely in streets without the thought of been kidnapped or even murdered.

What can make your life easier here that could make you cancel your immigration??

There are certain things that could make life easier in Nigeria such as reduction in prices of good services , Provision of adequate security for the citizens, Provision of more job opportunities for graduates and undergraduates to work in and many more. I feel all I have listed could be achieved if only our present leaders could allow the youths to contribute in the decision making of the country.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with the community. I do understand that living in Nigeria has its perks and demerit and one needs to weigh in them careful before finalising their plans to migrate or not.

I totally agree with you that a lot of work needs to be done but unfortunately only the government cannot do everything. Believe it or not, we all have a role to play as little or great as it can be.

Nice post with important points raised @samuel-oguneso
