Talk about careers i am sure everyone as a kid had this dream job in mind because of what they saw in the movies or there physical environment about how cool that particular profession looks. For example most people wanted to be a Doctor, An Engineer , A banker and so on. Alot of people had this dream growing up but not all has been able to achieve to this.
We will firstly talk about what a career is.
WHAT IS A CAREER?
A career is a professional part chosen by an individual to participate in throughout his or her life time. E.g A footballer, an actor , a musician , a writer. Those are all careers.
With that being known to you let's dive to my dream career.
WHAT IS MY DREAM CAREER?
- As a kid i have always enjoyed building houses with mud and make fake guns with fallen papaya branches.
I always dreamed of being an Engineer, that has been my childhood dream.
Although my dad is a contractor , he used to go to work then in another state to execute a contract. His major was road construction, so when i grew up to 5 or 6 years of age i was disturbing my dad to take me to site.
One day he decided to say yes to my request and took me to site for the first time, we got there so he took his measuring tape and attached to his belt buckle, i saw another tape there and i took it too and did exactly what he did.
He went to the drainage that has been constructed and measured the width and thickness of the drain which i followed what he did, unknowingly the site Engineer came for a surprise inspection that day and was watching this kid closely and was like who brought a child to a construction site?
He was upset at first seeing a child being put in harm's way but he was intrigued with what i was doing, he observed me for a while and calm down from his truck. Approached me directly and called me young engineer , what are you doing here and who brought you. With fear i pointed at my dad , the engineer was like oh is that your father? I said yes , he held my hand and we both walked towards the direction of my dad. While we were heading towards my dad he asked me, what do you want to be when you grow up? I looked at him and said i want to be an Engineer. He smiled , why would you want to be an Engineer? I replied i want to be like my dad.
We got to where my dad was and he told my dad i found our young engineer, he said he wants to be like us. So make sure you take him to every site you go so he can see how it's been done.
After the conversation with my dad he give me some cash before he left. Since that day my dad always took me to any construction site he is working on. I got to meet different Engineers from the company all loved me seeing me at first glance alone.
So that's it, i saw and learnt the whole practical aspect of the job on site. Then i moved from there trust me there were alot of hurdles on the way which made me switch choices but at long last i ended up with my dream career which i am studying civil engineering right now.
I'm few years time i will be done and get to proudly be addressed as an Engineer which has been my so long dream.
Dream of a 5 year old, most people say careers run in the family and i agree. I have a strong feeling i inherited my construction zeal from my dad, i didn't know who my grandfather is, maybe he was a contractor too? I can't wait to start my dream career.
Thank you and have blessed weekend ahead ❤️❤️❤️
