Hello, Hive Community!
This week's theme "Colourful" reminded me of one of my favourite songs, which, in my opinion, fits with its fast rhythm and the actual colours mentioned in the song: yellow and pink.
But a major colour, that isn't mentioned in the text, but I feel speaks out of the whole song, is green for the trees, as the main theme of the song is about missing things when they are lost forever!
The song has such a happy demeanour, that it could easily make you forget its subject: us destroying our natural environment!
For a song written over 50 years ago, this has never been more relevant.. Open eyed are we running into disaster, and the carousel turns faster and faster..
Oops, I didn't mean to rhyme there, I'm no songwriter..
Trees in a museum? This surely is not so laughable now, when one can most likely already wander in the virtual woods of games consoles. And, yes, you've guessed it, I'm no strong gamer, so not 100% on that!
Anybody seen the film "WALL-E"? Too real for comfort, if you ask me.. 😉
Anyway, back to the song, which I have been meaning to record for some time, as I shy away from playing it live.
The reason is simple: It's tuned in open D... and I've been known for breaking strings or getting a terrible tuning when trying to change it in between songs; not a nice experience at all.. 😄
However, I might take a spare guitar readily tuned next time, as this definitely needs an outing!
So, here we go, Joni Mitchell's classic tune "Big Yellow Taxi"..
Hope, you like it and thanks for taking the time to give it a listen!
