Hello dear Hive Open Mic brothers and sisters. It's been a while since I was last here, and now I'm back. Today, we are celebrating the HiveOpenMic event, which has reached week 216, with the theme of Pop Ballads, chosen by @marifi. For this week, I will be performing a cover of the song "Selamat Jalan" by TipeX. This song tells the story of losing a friend to death. Therefore, I dedicate this song to Opan Gobank, who was not only a friend but also a mentor and the vocalist of our band.
By the way, I want to share something with all of you here. Recently, I experienced a deep loss. A friend who was also my mentor and the vocalist in our band has left us forever. It's hard to express how broken my heart was when I heard the news of his departure. My friend and I have been together since we were young. We grew up together and shared many adventures and dreams. He was not just a friend who was always there for me, but also a mentor who provided inspiration and guidance in life and music. Together, we formed a band and shared a dream of being rebels in the music world.
Losing a friend and mentor who was so close has left a deep wound in my heart. I feel lost and unsure of how to move forward without his presence. However, in moments like these, I remember what he used to say about having a strong and resilient spirit to face anything. As a tribute to my friend and mentor who has passed away, I decided to cover the song "Selamat Jalan" by Tipe-X. This song carries a deep meaning and lyrics that depict gratitude, honor, and a difficult farewell. Through this song, I want to express how thankful I am for all the support, guidance, and memories we shared.

In the process of covering this song, I used Adobe Audition software and a soundcard to record the bass and vocals. For the drums, I used the Real Drum application on my Android phone. I used distortion effects on the bass sound to express the difficult-to-express feelings of loss. In this cover, I hope to convey the depth of pain and longing that I feel. Even in recording the vocals, I had to redo several takes because I cried while singing. Covering this song is not only to remember and honor my friend who has passed away, but also as a form of therapy and comfort for myself. Music provides a space for me to express pent-up emotions and reminisce about the beautiful memories we shared.
Although this loss still leaves a deep wound, I hope that through this song, I can celebrate the life and legacy that my friend left behind. May through music, I can find peace and strengthen myself to continue our musical journey with the same spirit that my friend, who has passed away, taught me.
