Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you Cape Town in South Africa!
Back in Cape Town finally! I was trapped with my wife Julia, daughter Madison and friend Rhonwyn in a small coastal village for longer than originally planned after storms, mudslides and flooding closed both roads back to Cape Town!
Welcome to Week 181 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is the is “Fire of Love”!
For those of you who don’t know, I’ve decided to alter my Three Tune Tuesday posts to be based around the Hive Open Mic theme of the week, and how I would go about tackling it. “Fire of Love” to me describes the more passionate, even lustful, side of love. In the post above, I was quite easily able to think of three songs that even have “Fire” in their title:
• “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash
• “Light my Fire” by the Doors
• And today’s song: “I’m on Fire” by Bruce Springsteen
Now, because of the opening line “Hey little girl is your daddy home?”, a lot of people think this song is quite creepy! However, if you watch the video you realise that Bruce Springsteen is playing the part of a mechanic who has fallen for a much wealthier adult woman, and I assume “Daddy” is a slang term for her husband from the time. (Like we might say “Sugar-Daddy” in South Africa).

Para mí, “Fire of Love” describe el lado más apasionado, incluso lujurioso, del amor. En la publicación anterior, pude pensar fácilmente en tres canciones que incluso tienen “Fire” en su título:
• “Anillo de fuego” de Johnny Cash
• “Enciende mi fuego” junto a las puertas
• Y la canción de hoy: “I’m on Fire” de Bruce Springsteen
Ahora, debido a la frase inicial “Oye, niña, ¿tu papá está en casa?”, ¡mucha gente piensa que esta canción es bastante espeluznante! Sin embargo, si miras el video, te das cuenta de que Bruce Springsteen está interpretando el papel de un mecánico que se ha enamorado de una mujer adulta mucho más rica, y supongo que "papá" es un término de jerga para su marido de la época. (Como podríamos decir "Sugar-Daddy" en Sudáfrica).
