THE HOLIEST IN THE HEIGHT
Dear friends, this is #HiveOpenmic week 177 and our theme for this week's event is PRAISE. The concept of praise is very sacrosanct. As such, it is very apt to come to clear terms, understanding it's meaning and why it is important. Praise is simply used to bring about the expression of approval or admiration for someone or something. Who do you admire and who do you praise? Often times, praise is used in the negative or deceptive manner. People praise those they hate and wish to destroy so as to make them believe they have their support. It is a technique used by many people to bring others down. This is very bad and it's tearing the world apart. Praise is a positive concept and it should be used positively and not to deceive anyone or bring people down.
The title of the song I did for this week's event is PRAISE TO THE HOLIEST IN THE HEIGHT. I chose this song because after a deep reflection, I am so convinced that God deserves to be praised at all times without ceasing. His works are so enormous. In the words of Thomas Aquinas, God is the unmoved mover and he is the uncaused cause. In the teaching of the Catholic Church in her Catechesis, God is the Supreme Spirit who alone exists of himself and he is infinite in all perfections. The lyrics of the song I'm bringing to you speak volume about him. I hope you find some meaning relating with it. Cheers
PRAISE TO THE HOLIEST IN THE HEIGHT
1 Praise to the Holiest in the height,
And in the depth be praise:
In all His words most wonderful,
Most sure in all His ways.
2 O loving wisdom of our God!
When all was sin and shame,
A second Adam to the fight,
And to the rescue came.
3 O wisest love! that flesh and blood
Which did in Adam fail,
Should strive afresh against the foe,
Should strive and should prevail.
4 And that a higher gift than grace
Should flesh and blood refine,
God’s presence, and His very self
And essence all-divine.
5 O generous love! that He, who smote
In man for man the foe,
The double agony in man
For man should undergo.
6 And in the garden secretly,
And on the Cross on high,
Should teach his brethren, and inspire
To suffer and to die.
7 Praise to the Holiest in the height,
And in the depth be praise:
In ail His words most wonderful,
Most sure in all His ways.
