Hive Open Mic week 154 Original song 'Jim's Tea

in #hive-1057862 years ago

I'm a huge fan of musical comedy and I like writing funny songs.

Today I have recorded a song I wrote after meeting with some musical friends including @steevc, @steve-o2023, @daniellemurray and @anna-newkey. We had recently started holding open mic nights in a social club, which wasn't really our preferred venue and we had gotten shoved in to the little back room, whilst there was a pool tournament or something going on in the main room.

Anyhow, one of our friends Jim, hadn't had time for tea before he came out that evening and he said he was 'starving', so he popped next door to the fish and chip shop for some food. When he came back he asked us if we'd like a bite of his battered sausage...well you can imagine that caused a laugh and nobody wanted a bit of his sausage. He said he thought they were nice fresh out of the fryer, with a bit of salt on. I said a battered sausage sounded painful....at which point the idea for this song came along.

Sadly though half way through enjoying his food, poor Jim was chucked out in the rain by the landlord, with his sausage and chips, because the people in the other room had complained that they could smell it.

This song tells the complete story.

Hahaha...Well he did kind of waggle it at people..

EXCELENTE ....

thank you

Wow you sound stunning even when playing a light-hearted song! Here I was thinking South African English is very close to the real thing (UK), but it took me a second to remember that "tea" is not just the beverage over there! Hahaha!

Ah thanks, Do you have fish and chip shops and battered sausages in SA?

We definitely have fish and chip shops... The best ones in Cape Town are at the little harbours at Kalk Bay and Hout Bay where the fishing boats come in with fresh fish, and the naughty seals beg for scraps and become quite a tourist attraction!

Hmmm, if you want sausage you would normally go to a different place... You get Gatsby's which are like a soft baguette stuffed with chips and usually "russian" sausages... Or German delis with bratwurst/bockwurst. In South African culture, the most common sausage (wors) is boerewors (farmers sausage) which is usually beef sausage spiced with coriander and is mainly put on the braai (barbecue).
