Hello Hive musicians. I've been away for a while as work got incredibly busy but now I have a little bit more time for myself for a month or two, so I hope to be contributing to this page more often and to have time to listen and comment on your music too.
I've chosen a song called 'Pure Imagination' by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. I first heard this song in the original film of Willy Wonka and and Chocolate Factory, from 1971. The film is based on the Roald Dahl book 'Charlie and The Chocolate factory'.
It stars Gene Wilder who is an old fashioned, all round entertainer, who was well known for his comedy roles. Gene plays the lead role of Willy Wonka who shows good hearted boy Charlie and four other not so nice children, around his sweet making factory. Each of the children won their tour of the factory by finding a golden ticket inside the wrapper of a Wonka chocolate bar.
The visitors are taken to an amazing room literally made of chocolate and sweets and this is the song Willy Wonka sings to them. The song suggests that if you can imagine something, that you can do it.
