About 25 years ago I went to see the musical 'Les Miserables' in London. There are several very well known songs in that musical though at the time I knew none of them. Back then it wasn't as easy to just listen to songs because the internet wasn't really a thing ordinary people used much and you had to go out and buy music from a record shop.
I can remember in the interval standing in the queue for the ladies loo openly weeping because I was so touched by the story and the music.
This week I have chosen to sing my favourite song from that musical, 'Bring him Home'. This is song about the love of family, even when they aren't really blood relations.
The song is in the form of a prayer. A lead character Jean Valjean, sings this as he wishes for the safe return of Marius from the revolutionary riots. Marius is in love with Valjean's adopted daughter Cosette. He views Marius as a fine young man who he would have been proud to have as a son.
It is essentially about finding happiness in the happiness of others.
