I subscribed the Silver bloggers community several months ago. I often visit the posts in the community and I love the depth of insight I gain from them. However, I never dared to publish any post here because I doubted if I would be accepted. The reason is that my age might not match the community requirement 🤔, but then I thought is it just the physical age that matters! I think mental age is of more importance. Anyways, the community may tell me whether or not it welcomes me here. The current topic for the blog of the month fascinated me a lot and I couldn’t stop but write on it.
I don’t have any grand children at this point of life but I am a mother of two boys. I hope to be a grand mother in future but as of now, I want to give advice to my sons learnt from my school of life. It is in the format of a letter
Letter to my Children
My dear children,
You are the best thing happen to me. I love you and want you to gather the best of what life offers to you. Life is given only for once and each of its second is important. A moment once gone never comes back. That’s why it is important to value each breath you take. Life is not the bed of roses but something that destroys the peace of our mind is not the circumstances but our thoughts around them.
My children, if you want the life to be joyful never let negativity surround your heart. Things may be difficult, your journey may be arduous, the situation may be hard on you but nothing can break you if you learn to see the silver lining in the cloud. You just need to believe that He who created you love you the most and would never leave you alone. He is always there waiting for you to ask Him His help and to respond to you with love, affection and countless blessings.
I have heard people saying that happiness is rare in this world. I have learnt that they are wrong. Happiness is easy to achieve if we inculcate the virtue of gratefulness in us. Never take anything for granted. Learn to appreciate every blessing you have been endowed with. Believe me, no blessing is small. Even if you are breathing without any conscious efforts, you are privileged. Show the gratitude for every ease at your disposal. Be prudent of ungrateful people. Stay away from them. Ingratitude is contagious. If you remain in the company of such people, the joy of your life would soon be replaced with complaints and depression.
Remember, my sons, achievements require patience. The results do not always come out instantly but never ever think that your hard work was a waste. Never leave your decided path only because you found it unrewarding. Be patient. It takes time for a seed to become a tree. However, there is one thing about patience that I want you to understand and that is patience does not at all means to sit and wait but it means to keep on working despite the delay in the desired results.
Something that makes life easier is to learn the art of letting go. Everything that has been birthed have an expiry date. The more you detach yourself from materialism, the more peace will abound you. It is of no use to mourn over the things that you have lost. Your mourning won’t bring it back. Move on. You will find, there is a lot more and sometimes even better awaiting for you.
There is one last advice. While caring for others, don’t forget to love yourself. Unless you love yourself as much as you do others, you won’t be able to feel fulfilled. It is only you who know the worth of your dreams and you shouldn’t let them die because you didn’t love you. Don’t let anyone decide about your destinations but take your decisions yourself with responsibility. You might not always be successful every time. You might take wrong steps. Be compassionate with yourself. Learn to forgive you. However, there is one thing to care about. The self-love shouldn’t exceed the healthy limits in a way that you stop caring for others totally. You never should be the cause of trouble in anyone’s life intentionally.
Wishing you the best of luck. Always praying for you.
Your Mom.
