Progress Sort Of Sums It Up ..
Yes, that word sums it up nicely .. We are making progress by slowly checking things off our spring to do list. The last time I left you we were preparing to have our house power washed. That is done and off the list! The house looks new again and will probably look great for another couple of years. The north side of our house always gets the shade, and it sits due north so in the winter it takes a very long time for the snow to melt. Having this excess moisture often leads to moss, lichen, and mildew that forms on the surfaces of the home. They cleaned up the house yesterday and treated the roof for those things I mentioned above. The lichen moss will turn white then eventually dry up and fall off the roof. We have a 35 to 40 year roof on our house and this should help extend the life of those shingles a tad bit.
I'll shared these two photos with you because it depends how green the house was and then how clean they got it.
Progress in the garden as well ..
We picked up some additional plants this weekend .. And put them in the ground. Squash, zucchini, and some sweet peppers that we can stuff with cheese and bacon and put on the grill. That will be a nice treat this summer. I'm still trying to hunt down so I'm string beans And possibly a pumpkin plant. I've always wanted to grow a pumpkin, but we've never had luck with them in the past. Maybe this is our year!
I also got around to peeling that onion apart and planting each individual sprout in through the garden. We'll see how they make out.
The Date Is Set ..
We set a date to have our carpet installed. We are sooooo looking forward to it. Next week at the end of the week and then we can start moving stuff back into the rooms. I'm actually somewhat looking forward to it because having new carpet will make the work worthwhile. Right now all of the items upstairs are crammed down in the first floor level rooms. It's not that bad since we don't use those rooms. We really haven't been too inconvenienced. The only one inconvenienced is our house plants. Speaking of which, the hibiscus is looking good…
Our hibiscus plant, the one I thought may not survive the winter in the basement, is again blooming! The first couple of flowers opened a few days ago. I'm so happy that this plant survived it overwintering process flourish on the patio. It's almost time to move her outside as the temperatures are becoming more steadily warm in the evenings here. I don't think we'll have a problem moving it outdoors at this point. I may actually do that today.
A Pile of Rock ..
I ordered and got a big pile of river rock dropped off yesterday.
I ordered it in the morning and didn't expect it to be dropped off till mid week. The gentleman called me back and said they had to cancel visitation and could get the stone to me sooner then promised. It's three-quarter inch River rock and there's approximately 5 1/2 tons in a pile in the driveway. My wife and I will work a little bit at a time and get it into the new beds that we created along the walkway leading to our backyard.
We also purchased several plants for that area and put those into the ground this weekend. It didn't take long having two people working on it. Maybe a couple of hours and we had things tidied up. After the stone goes in we can sit back and enjoy watching these plants grow and fill in as we have envisioned.
Like I said, progress!
A little bit at a time and will get to where we need to be.
