Happy independence day to all citizens of 6 countries!

Today is 15th August, and it is celebrated as an Independence Day in India. India got independence from British rulers in 1947 on this day. This independence is so precious as we sacrificed a lot of lives in freedom fighting.

But here this date of 15th August is not only special for India, but 5 other countries, viz. South Korea, North Korea, Republic of Congo, Bahrain, and Liechtenstein also celebrate their independence on the same day every year.

When I came to know about this fact that not only India but other 5 countries also celebrate their Independence Day on same day, I become curious to know their story of independence.

North Korea

Currently, it is one of the most isolated country in the world that they have very few connections from rest of the world. They celebrate this day as National Liberation Day of Korea. In 1945, they got independence from Japan after 35 years of Japanese rule.

South Korea

Like India and Pakistan, North and South Korea were the same country, and they also have the same story of independence as North Korea. After independence in 1945 with the help of American and Russian forces, Korea was divided into two parts after 3 years, which is today known as North and South Korea.

Republic of Congo

This African country celebrates this day as their national day. They got independence in 1960 on 15th August. French ruled in Congo for over 80 years.

Liechtenstein

This country on world map is not very well known as I also was not aware about this country. This 6th smallest country is situated in Europe between Austria and Switzerland. They got independence very long before India in 1866. India could have liberated before that in 1857 revolution but due to some circumstances this could not happen. Before 1866 French were ruling this country.

Bahrain

This oil rich country is currently a part of GCC. In 1971 on 15th August after survey in Bahrain British troops were withdrawn from this small Middle East country. But today they do not observe their Independence Day on 15th August, rather they celebrate their national day on 16th December.

Freedom is a fundamental right of every creature of this planet, including human being. We all celebrate our independence in different way, but there are many sentient being on this planet are still slaves of human being. We must liberate all animals also from slavery of human being. Animals are slaves of human beings in dairy farm, poultry farm, zoo and in various other ways. Celebration of independence is incomplete if any creature of any species is a slave of another species.

I agree with you insofar as we cannot be totally independent while some living being is being a slave to another, thanks for this information. I am amazed to know how many countries achieved their independence on the same date
