In the last few months, I have faced some difficult moments, some involving my health and also my mom's. Also, I had to face those moments having to assimilate that my nest was empty. It hasn't been easy, but today my heart is full of joy.
A couple of days ago was my birthday, and I've never been much of a celebrator. But this year I was especially happy that the day came and I'm 52. I'm so happy to be alive. And my best present comes today. My son is coming to spend the holidays with us and he arrives today.
Without getting too agitated and following doctor's orders, I have been taking it easy, but little by little I have been preparing the house for today and this Christmas season. So here and there are signs that Christmas has finally arrived in this home.
Yesterday, we were making bollitos de hallacas. I couldn't make hallacas because it is a lot of work to make them and I have to rest. Also, my mom who always directs the preparation still has an immobilized arm, but even so with the help of my aunt, I made bollitos which are like hallacas but with all the ingredients mixed and easier to make. If you don't know what hallacas are, they are typical Venezuelan Christmas food.
I also made a quesillo and it is ready in the fridge.
Grogu got excited about a bush of Poinsettias that a friend gave me. He was nibbling a bit on the leaves. But then my aunt called me in distress since she read on the internet that they are toxic for cats. So quickly, I had to put the bush outside on the balcony. Fortunately, Grogu is fine. He didn't get ill.
We have everything ready to receive my son. And in a couple of hours, we'll go to the airport to pick him up.
I am so grateful for life, and to have this Sublime Sunday.
