Some days I just don't have it in me to actually write a post about something. There simply isn't "a subject," just a jumbled pile of snippets.
I'm OK with that, really... and remind myself that this is ultimately my blog... even though we're typically writing for "public consumption" much of the time.
The Price of Bread...
So I'm standing in Safeway, in the bread aisle, looking at muffins. I am not alone... several other people evidently are also in need of baked goods.
I overhear the conversation - between strangers - about the ridiculousness of the price of a loaf of bread now being close to $7. I agree. Granted, it's the high test organic stuff, and all that... but still.
The conversation about how "nobody can afford to live anymore" continues for a bit and then I move on.
It's true, though... people can't afford their lives anymore. Of course we live in an area with a lot of retirees... and if you're on fixed income, life sucks. Heck, even if you're not on fixed income, there's still a rather pervasive sucking noise...
I guess we'll just have to lose some weight!
Computer Woes...
So I'm doing something I really hate doing: I'm writing this post on my phone.
I loathe actually writing on a phone... in fact I rarely use my phone for anything other than making calls and limited texting.
The reason I find myself in this predicament is that my 12-year old computer is acting up again. The problem seems to be that my graphics card sometimes overheats and triggers a "thermal shutdown," after which it restarts with some version of system graphics that makes the screen look like 1990 VGA level. Which is pretty much useless when I am trying to process 100s of product photos for eBay.
The "solution" is to shut NJ beverything off and let things thoroughly cool off, which might take 3-4 hours, before trying a cold boot.
Inflation, Part Two...
Of course, people have lots of great "real" solutions for my computer issues, most of which involve spending a fair amount of ching we don't actually have.
Yes, I "need a new computer" but if I actually had $800 sitting around, I'd be paying some bills, not buying a computer! Because life is too expensive to live... regardless of whether we are talking loaves of bread or computer parts!
I'll be limping along for a while. Maybe I can save up enough from liquid rewards to eventually get a new computer, but that is not now!
Meanwhile, Mother's Day...
We never really observed Mother's Day when I was a kid in Denmark. It wasn't that it didn't exist, it just wasn't a thing in our home. Not sure why... but then my parents were a bit weird.
We will be celebrating here, though.
Here's hoping your Mother's Day is a good one!
And I'm hoping my computer behaves tomorrow because typing on the phone is for the birds!
Thanks for stopping by... no footers on today's post.
