An impromptu Sunday Supper with a regular participant in the annual McGregor Poetry Festival, and for the last two years has "done" Sunday supper @ The Sandbag House.

How did it happen? A friend and colleague was staying in our Little Room and came he by to greet when she departed.

The conversation, and then, went a little like this:

Could I pop in for a cup of tea?

Why not join us for supper? We'll chuck another chop on the braai.

So it was -

Supper had been mostly planned:

Two salads. The first, beans dressed with vinaigrette and pickled olives and basil.

The second, came our of the jar - marinated courgettes. Also, having tasted them when I made them, their flavour improved from having - literally - marinated for longer. The combination of the sour lemon, tangy dill and onion with the sweetness of the cocktail tomatoes really works. The toasted sunflower seeds and baby spinach add very necessary crunch.

For dessert, because it was totally unplanned a made-up combination: berries on a bed of homemade cottage cheese topped with drops of raw honey.

A lovely catch up with the hope for a rinse and repeat in 2023.

Post script: I am trying to participate in @traciyork's November #HiveBloPoMo. I emphasise trying because the last two months have been exactly that - trying. There have been times that I've just been too exhausted and uninspired to post, let alone write something profound. That shouldn't stop you - or anyone. Read about how to participate here.

I've made it to day 21!

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

Light salads with summer arriving again, superb ideas laid out on the plates above!

Thank you, Joan. Some of my favourite meals!

Mine too, yet family don't enjoy some of the ideas I prefer, which lean toward your method of preparation.

So much green! It looks delicious, and makes me long for summer.

I am so happy that summer is coming. I loathe winter!
