Oh Those Senior Moments

I am only sixty years old and I did not expect to have these senior moments. Since I had stopped working, I had quite a few.

A few months back, I wanted to make a duplicate of my house key. When I arrived at the shop, I realized that I had left my key in my car. So I had to walk back to my car. On the way back to my car, I bumped into an ex-colleague. We chatted for a few minutes. Then I walked back to the shop again. Only when I arrived at the shop did it hit me that I had not retrieved the key from my car.

Another problem that I encountered is that I had difficulty remembering where the heck I had parked my car. This usually happens in the car parks of shopping malls. Firstly, the car parks are huge and secondly, the whole place looks the same. So I had to resort to taking photos of where I parked my car.

Worse still, for our convenience, some car parks have installed ticketless parking. The system is able to scan your car plate number and the barrier automatically opens to let you drive in. This also solves the problem of losing your parking ticket. The problem occurs when you want to make payment and you have a problem recalling your car plate number. This can be quite embarrassing especially when there is a long queue behind you and you are still trying to remember your number.

There are times when I happen to meet friends or ex-colleagues in town. Their faces look very familiar and we will usually have a nice little chat. The problem is that I am unable to remember their names and am too shy to ask them. However, there is one instance where it is not entirely my fault. This is because the other person has dyed his hair black and he looks much younger.

I have one question for you. How many times a day do you look for your misplaced items such as keys, handphone or spectacles? This problem is not faced by me, my wife Roselind too spend a lot of time searching for her keys. It has become almost a daily occurence. Now I have a designated spot just to keep my keys and handphone.

I hope to be more organized and to keep memory sharp. Hopefully I can keep those senior moments to a minimum.

I had a good chuckle about the key and heading back to the shop twice 🤣 I'm already bad at remembering things, heaven only knows what I'll be like when I'm 60

Sorry for the late reply. I am looking at it as an opportunity to do more walking as I had to walk to the shop twice.

😂😂😂

Thank you so much for dropping by.

You are not alone🤣
I have had similar senior moments for years and years!

Even those who are much younger had commented that they too have senior moments. Mine seems to be getting more.

Yes it is more common than we admit. Mine are too though!

Hello @positivesteem I'm still on my 40s but there are also times that I'm being forgetful.. things that I forgot are mostly things that I'm going to do and then suddenly someone interrupts me the next thing I know is I already forgot what I'm going to do next hahaa

We all have these senior moments regardless of our age. The thing is we should try to see the humour
side of it instead of getting frustrated.

yep... never ever lose that humour in us... no matter what

Heading for 60 myself and definitely have forgetful moments. I've long thought that these huge multi-level carparks should be colour-coded: a different colour for each level. It would help anyone, of whatever age, find their way back to their car.

The multi-level carparks are colo-coded and some even have numbers. But sometimes I can't remember the color and the numbers.

Ah, in that case, you're in trouble :)

Some of these "senior moments" I have had for years, such as not remembering the name of someone who greets me as if they talk to me every day. I have always had a good memory for some things and a terrible memory for others.

Not remembering people's names seem to be a common problem. The face is so familiar but can't just recall the name.

You're not alone actually, I had a few of those problems myself + I can't seem to make a post without making a mistake and going back to edit it lol!

Thank you for posting in our COMmunity!

I have received a number of comments from people telling me that they too have senior moments. For me, these senior moments seem to be increasing. Thank you for your comments.

This happen to me a lot 😆😆. I just remember the face but i dont dare to ask their name. Sometime when we talk about old friend i can remember the name but not their face.

Mostly that old friend or schoolmate from primary and secondary school. I had forgoten their name but i can still remember their faces. 😅

It seems to be a common problem. For me sometimes even for my ex-colleague I also can't remember their names.

Old and forgetful is common, I'm the same

Yes, it is quite common. The problem is that I am having more of these senior moments.
