Good old friends company and the real social joy of meeting each other
Remember the telephone from our time ? Not many of the younger generation had the privilege of that feeling of getting a call from a friend at that time. The call charges were not in affordable range to speak for long time, so even though the desire was there to talk more, we had to limit ourselves, as a little higher bill would invite a ban. The time has changed, we have free calls, but life has kept us so occupied that we hardly speak on a regular basis. So whenever an opportunity comes to meet, me and the lady don't miss it. As you must have seen in some of my previous posts, our social functions are grand ones, people love to spend money on these occasions, and give their best to the society. But for us, it's more of going there and meeting them in person. This was a marriage ceremony of the daughter of our neighbor, and our relationship has become stronger over last few years. I think, you can always differentiate between a formal vs close relationship over a period of time. In a formal relationship people would come and give you an invitation, requesting your presence. But if a relationship is close, no formal request or invitation, a simple call is enough - there is simply no excuse of not being there - unless there is some severe issues on your side. And you will have to share a lot of responsibilities at times.
We get many formal invitations, but of late we have been choosy to go to only those places, where we feel we will enjoy the company.
The pandal was nicely decorated for the marriage.
The dining area - you can imagine, how people love to give their best to the society - after all these are some life time memories that people will remember and remind often. Excess in couple of thousands people were invited for this grand occasion.
Mega arrangements done for the bride to walk into the stage - we were discussing on this and even though it was expensive, he had to agree to the kid's demand - after all, they will marry only once and this will be a life time memory - granted....As we age, we will have to accept few things.
Good food can't be missed completely even though I don't have the same cravings - kids enjoy them better.
Interestingly we both love to meet people, and passing the same trend to our kids - after all life is all about the time we spend here.
This post is in response to the Memoir Monday #48, which I did not want to miss, writing this from a hospital, nothing critical, will share more on that....Writing this post relieved my stress....
