Is Hive heading back in the right direction?

Hello Hivians and Happy Sunday

Here in the UK we have been enjoying a glorious day, in fact the last three days really have been beautiful.

It is just a pity it is coming at the end of a dreary summer weather wise!

Today then is a wee post to celebrate #beautifulsunday from @ace108 and also @c0ff33a for the #sublimesunday tag.

Sometimes it is hard to stay positive

Every year things seem go from worse to worse in our world and that is certainly true in the UK.

Beautiful things keep me positive that is for sure.

The memorial gardens were just blooming and sprouting positivity every fluffing where!

Right then, I am sure you know we are not in bull market for alts and especially not for Hive.

Yes Bitcoin hit a ATH earlier this year, Hive well we get the full blooded drop and then when the pumps come we get the smallest of pumps...

Finally the witnesses have dropped the HBD rate from 20% to 15%...

I think it is long overdue, I am sorry but to me 20% screamed HYIP and PONZI no matter what these Hive OGs said on twitter about it being sustainable....

Some of the interest amounts being paid are ludicrous.

For me so many people that make Hive fun want to be curated on Hive. It would be great if some of that HBD that is stuck away in savings could be powered up into HP and used to curate.

For me the focus of Hive should be Hive Power...

I for one have stopped putting HBD in savings. If I can then I will power up my Hive...

I mean 18 cents ... come on it is a nobrainer... IF Hive is to carry on then at some point we will see an upturn in Hive prices, so getting more HP now is a no brainer.

But is it just me, or is Hive fading away?

Every day new chains come out that can do so much more than HIVE.

We need a shakeup if things are to survive.

Why would new Hivians join Hive?

The only selling feature that the vast majority of newbies would care about is getting paid to write, paid to something. Although we have Vibes now where you can sing karaoke and ear a fortune, so that is cool. A pity it shafted electronic musicians!

As for the whole DHF thing ... well fluff me!

Hive is just like life, the rich get richer and the poor just get fluffing shafted...

If we do persist in interest payments on holding our stablecoin, then why not have a sliding scale to help the small Hivians.

You know the sort of thing upto 50 HBD and you get the top percentage, then it sildes...

I know I am in no position to make changes but thought I would throw my tuppence in as the Hive I joined in Sept 2021 is not the Hive of August 2024.

Engagement well it tanked ....

I still have some HBD goals that I haven't met yet, so I plan on keeping my savings as they are and allowing them to compound until I reach those goals. I don't think 20% was unreasonable. COSMOS was paying 21% or 22% for a while and it is still plugging along.

It is a cracking return, I remember 12% and thought that was a good. Well COSMOS is suffering the same old chain syndrome. ATOM and OSMO taken a hammering and not really responding like other alts either.
Compounding is great and you will get there I am sure, just mayeb a little longer if the rate gets lowered again.

I think we are going in be narrow range in all coins and stocks too.
I think coins may have started going the stocks way of sell in May and come back in Dec.

wao, we are thinking the same thing, why this saving, isn't it better to have a voting power that helps to grow. i started saving but then i realized that this is not what i want and i withdrew my money. hopefully there will be positive changes, i really love HIVE and i never want it to disappear.

Some great points Ed. Hopefully there will be something good happening for Hive in 2025, but I am not so optimistic tbh, the tokenomics need to be shored up, giving people 20% or even 15% for doing nothing doesn't fly in the real world.

Hive can't be everything to everyone, but it has some key attributes we can highlight. Censorship resistance. Content ownership. An 8+ year history. Frontends for various projects all interconnected.

The history is great and the front ends being interconnected is great as the chance to gain crypto rewards for being a user on the chain.
It most definitely isn't everything to everyone nor should it be.
There are some great things in Hive and content ownership is for sure one of them.

Yes it is and in more than one sense, Super Ed. Not only those who have the most are the ones who benefit the most, also like life Hive has its ups and downs.

I totally agree that Hive today is very different from the Hive of 2021 when we started, and surely we are also different;) The engagement is tanked and not only that, the entry of new members is null, there is no fresh blood to give it new air. But we'll see where it goes in the future ... The HBD APR at 15% is also good IMO so.

I'm glad that at least at the end of the summer you are having a few days with nice weather. Enjoy the beautiful days.

Here we are still in uncertainty... and who knows for how long but life goes on.

Ah yes new members are so few and far between but new air is needed. We need to gee up Silver Bloggers too,and get some prompts or something going.

Well as for Hive. I adore Hive. I keep saying how Hive changed my life and reconstructed my perspective towards earning. However, it is true that Hive has changed. It’s no longer what it was. And most times, I feel it’s we the small fishes that actually see what is going on.

Trying to even sign someone up is like mission impossible. Almost like Hive saying, “no more”. That’s understandable. Hive needs more consumers than it does creators.

Regarding HBD, man, I never even thought much of it seeing the 20%. The highest I’ve ever scored in interests outside chain and in real life is 10%. So I honestly thought it was just a number until I realized it wasn’t and then I’m mind blown.

Frankly, I’m only going to do my best on this blockchain. I’m not going anywhere. As far as I’m concerned, I’m not leaving Hive till it tarries.

I know you adore Hive and it is great that you are back to being super active again. You are the sort of person we need, if only you could be cloned.

The sign up process is not easy, too many OGs need to put themselves into a newbies pair of shoes to see how frustrating things are.

You getting 10% really is incredible when you think about it!

Beautiful beds of flowers around something to cheer you up.

Worse to worse I agree, tumbled and turned every which way. Savings at 15% I agree, originally surprised by the initial higher decision taken.

Growth is perturbing, sadly many arrive few have initiative to remain when earnings are low, hopefully in time that too will change although we have being saying that for some time.

Thanks Joan. Yes it is a struggle getting new members and then an even greater struggle getting them to stay when the earnings are low like this.
InLeo are giving some LEO as referral rewards so let's see if that helps getting people.

Few I have introduced took one look, being online for years mentioned no longer interested in ongoing learning, not sure if it is the blockchain or tearing away from old ways where many contacts have been made.

Can't always place value, more a trust with whom you work.

Hive is more or less like home to me and I always wish that improvements continue to happen here, that things get better instead of the other way round. Sometimes I'm saddened by the level at which hive is reducing in value, but some hope I have is that there are better days ahead.
