Show Me A Photo Contest Round 179 : I came across the piacpiac birds for the very first time.

in #hive-106444last month

This is my first time posting here and I hope I am welcomed into the community.

Today, I will be participating in the Show Me A Photo Contest Round 179.

I stay in a place that i rarely do see birds. The only birds I normally see are owls that do pass the night on the fence of our neighbours house.

I was actually on the field escorting the Ndama breed of cattle for grazing, when I just noticed some couple of birds coming very close to the cattle.

They were also flying and forming groups on the roof.

I also noticed they where following the cattles to get something which I think is possible to get food . From my observations they were feeding on parasites and insects are on the cattles present on the body of the cattles. Some of them where also feeding on the insects that where present under the ground and on the grasses at the process of grazing by the cows.

This was my first time seeing these very dark crows and so I was pushed to snap them and watch them for some while.

Seeing them in groups was really amazing and I decided to make some research about them.

They are called the piacpiac birds, and they are mostly seen in the African region.

They belong to the crow family and they are often seen around livestock animals.

Also, I was able to find out that there is a form of mutual benefits between the cattle and the piacpiac birds , because they help to feed on ticks and lice that can directly affect the overall health of these animals.

Thanks for reading with me to the end.
