My daughter-in-law took these photos of a hawk as it was flying near Lake Michigan.
If anyone is an expert at identifying raptors tell me what you think. Google tells me it is a red tail hawk, but a Ferruginous Hawk has also been seen and identified in the area.

This Great Blue Heron was standing in the water at the Botanical Garden waiting for lunch. Great Blue Herons eat nearly anything within striking distance, including fish, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals, insects, and other birds. They stand about 4ft tall and live in North and Central America, and northern South America.

These shots are so amazing. I love it. She did a great job!

The hawk is so pretty, and the Heron is beautiful too.

I have never seen a heron in person, I wish to

Thanks! I think one of the best ways to see different birds is visiting the habitat that they like.

100%! We had a crow today come within 3 feet of us! …and not one of the crows that knows me - we were in another town picking up some kids stuff we found on marketplace and he just came hopping right up to say hi! Allie whispered Dad - don’t move too suddenly, there’s a crow right next to you… …then Lucy came running out of the van HELLO MR. CROW!!! - well intentioned and terrifying…he didn’t stick around 🤣

How fun! Did you have peanuts in your pocket?

LOL - I was completely unprepared 😅

Good morning dear friend @melinda010100
The photos your daughter-in-law has taken are truly incredible, and the blue heron is adorable
I take this opportunity to wish you a lovely Sunday

These are stunning photos, so sharp and so detailed.

Thanks, Neli. Most birds seen at my house are hidden behind leaves and branches, so it's nice to get clear shots!

Magnificent Hawk photograph! Especially the first one!

Awesome!

Great and spectacular shots! 👍

Let's assume that a hawk is just a hawk. Scientists divide the classification of birds and animals very much.
People were also divided into races and nations. But still, people are usually considered people.
And the heron is a real beauty!

OK. A hawk then!
Thanks.

Great captures especially those action shots of the hawk 🦅 I always have trouble with IDs on raptors. We have eagles, osprey, hawks and falcons here. The small hawks and falcons are tough for me to figure out 🤔

We have the same, most are usually seen at a distance, so that makes positive ID a bit harder, too.

The eagle is very beautiful, your son-in-law is very skilled at photographing birds. Tell him I love his amazing portrait.

Thanks for your kind wotds!

You're welcome sis.

Don't know enough about american raptors to be of help, but can say those photos are awesome!

Thanks!
