Hello again, Bird Lovers!
"FAMILY PORTRAIT"
Please check out my entry to this week's SMAP where the theme is FAMILY PORTRAIT. I have been busy clicking photos of bird families as they enjoy eating sunflower seeds from our feeders.
My post also features a unique bird family that is frequently seen in my neighborhood. Be sure to read to the end for the cute surprise!
HOUSE FINCHES
The not-so-little house finches are amongst the laziest offspring. The parents teach them to come directly onto the birdfeeders where all they have to do is reach down, open their beaks and pick up seeds. Yet the babies loudly insist their parents put the food directly into their mouths -- time and time again!
RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS
The female red-bellied woodpecker and her baby are doing a great job scouring the tree trunk and finding bugs, beetles and other insects to eat with the help of their long tongues. If you zoom in and look at the first photo you can see a snack captured in the female's mouth.
SPARROWS
These cute sparrows families are fun to watch and hear chirping as they feed.
CANADA GEESE
ALL IN THE FAMILY!
Now this is something one does not see every day, especially not at the local grocery store parking lot!
Here, a gaggle of Canada geese stopped traffic as they waddled their way to a manmade lake that is located on the strip mall parking lot.
The brave or more like suicidal Canada geese are known to stop busy traffic whenever they feel the urge to cross the street to reach the undeveloped land where they hang out, nest and sleep.
I hope you enjoyed all of my bird photographs for the theme FAMILY PORTRAIT!
