🦉 The common chaffinch or simply the chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)
- fringilla (lat.) - finch; fi nco (Old German), fi nc (Old English)
- coelebs coelebs (lat.) - single, idle, unmarried
I adore the very beginning of spring, because at this time the birds are in mating season, and it’s a pleasure to watch it. But in these birds the males arrive first. They occupy the territory that suits them and sing songs to indicate this. Skirmishes and even fights are often possible, and not only among themselves, and the chaffinch can also attack other species of birds.
In these photos, the female was sitting on a branch and fluttering her wings, thereby she portrayed a nestling and demanded that the male feed her, and she was thereby testing the male’s abilities.
