These birds cannot be confused with any others; they have a recognizable characteristic appearance. They are inhabitants of northern latitudes, mainly the northern taiga.
With the onset of cold weather in the fall, they begin to migrate south in search of food to survive the winter. Around the beginning of October, I already see them in the forests of my city and the surrounding area.
In winter they can easily be found in the city. even in courtyards, where they raid berry trees in large noisy flocks, especially rowan trees, which they feed on. In early spring, as soon as the sun barely begins to warm up, they begin to fly back to the north. And birds that fly far from the south can be seen on migration even in early May.
