šŸ¦‰ The lesser whitethroat (Curruca curruca)

  • Curruca is an unidentified bird name mentioned in the poems of the ancient Roman poet Juvenal

I rarely see these birds. For some reason, in my city there are very, very few of them, unlike their relative common whitethroat or greater whitethroat (Curruca communis).
I come across them near the bank of a large river, there is a coastal area where dense bushes and thickets grow along the entire bank. And from these bushes you can hear a characteristic voice consisting of short, inaudible trills

Actually, the voice is not only how this bird differs from its relative. Yes, in appearance they are very, very similar, but there are small minor differences. The most noticeable thing is of course the color of the legs. In the lesser whitethroat, they are dark. The third photo shows an example of a common whitethroat; it has light legs.
