🦉 The European goldfinch or simply the goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis)
- Carduelis carduus (Latin) thistle
These beautiful multi-colored birds are sedentary wintering birds, but I don't often come across them. In general, the birds are gregarious, and only in spring do they break up into separate pairs.
These birds have a very pleasant voice, their songs consist of fast chirps, trills and whistles, for which this bird is bred at home and kept as a domestic one, fortunately it is unpretentious in care and is recommended for beginners.
As you might guess, their favorite food is thistle seeds. However, they also eat other seeds of plants and herbs. In addition, their diet includes various buds, and occasionally insects and spiders.
