🦉 The common cuckoo (Cuculus canorus)

  • Cuculus (lat.) cuckoo
  • canorus (lat.) melodic, musical

This bird has earned a bad reputation and is called a nest parasite. It is found in deciduous or mixed forests, as well as meadows near forests. In these places, this bird is mischievous.

Small insectivorous birds will get it from them. As for these photos, I took them with difficulty in a meadow near the river. In these places live yellow wagtails and black-headed stonechats, which every spring become victims of cuckoos.

Some of their nesting strategies are outrageous as it involves depositing their eggs on another bird species' nests, and the cuckoo chick usually outgrows the birds in the nest they invade, so they tend to get fed more.
