🦉 The common chaffinch or simply the chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)

  • fringilla (lat.) - finch; fi nco (Old German), fi nc (Old English)
  • coelebs coelebs (lat.) - single, idle, unmarried

I like to meet these birds in early spring. This happens almost always at the very end of March or beginning of April, when spring is just beginning. I go into the forest, with difficulty overcoming deep snowdrifts, but I rejoice when I hear the songs of these forest singers.

I love to catch these early moments when the Chaffinch has not yet even begun to sing a full song, but sings the so-called sub-song. And I also love to see Chaffinch that have not even arrived yet, but are still flying somewhere, at these moments they are generally silent and are in the company of other birds, not yet separated.
