🦉 The brambling (Fringilla montifringilla)
- Fringilla (lat.) Finch; fi nco (old German)
- montifringilla lat .: mōns, montis mountain, mountain range
This is a very close relative of the Chaffinch. According to my observations, they arrive later, but there were cases when I met them at the end of March when spring was just beginning. Unlike their relatives, they do not have amazing vocal abilities. Their songs are a creaky buzzing.
Sexual dimorphism is expressed in the plumage color. Males have contrasting black and some orange colors, while females have gray and washed-out orange instead of black.
