🦉 The tree pipit (Anthus trivialis)
- Anthus (ancient Greek mythology) Antus, son of Hippodamia, turned into a bird
- Trivialis (lat.) common, simple, banal
These forest wagtails appear in the forests in the second wave of birds returning from wintering. This usually happens around the end of April. The males sing very actively and show themselves off in a peculiar flight. They fly up and glide down, and at the same time continue to sing a song. A very beautiful sight.
But once the bird gets hungry, you will have a hard time seeing it. They have natural camouflage that literally makes the bird invisible in the middle of the spring ground. Only movement gives the bird away.
