What gives you peace? Is it when you finally hit the bed at night? Is it when you spend time with your family? Is it when you play your favorite sport or a video game. Is it when you go on a trip? Is it when you do good in your studies? Is it when you make your parents proud? Is it when you hangout with friends or is it all of these mentioned altogether that bring you peace?
For me, peace is taking out time for myself. It's rare. We're at that stage of life that if we work hard today, we can relax tomorrow. That is what I hear everyday from almost everyone. You're young and energetic. Invest your today for a better tomorrow. I think this is the circle of life. You can't take out time to relax. For instance a father who works day and night what does he do? He spends it on his family. This is what life is all about. Till the time, I'll be 'settled' I'll have a family of my own to feed.
But, even though you can't run away from this reality, you should take out time every now and then for the sake of your mental peace. My friend who lives in a rented apartment in Karachi as he's from a different city and works in the same hospital as mine invited me to his place after university. We went together and had lunch. After taking a short nap we decided to spend some time away from this busy city and it's chaos. Atif recommended me a place nearby that he knew. The place is called
CHINA PORT
Karachi is surrounded by water. We have the Arabian Sea that is a part of the Indian Ocean. One of the places where the seat joins this city is known as the Sea view and is a public spot so you can imagine the crowd there. Atif and I didn't want to be at such place so we headed on to a different and a heavenly spot of which a very few people know. It's known as the China Port, where only fishers come to earn their living.
We left his apartment on pur bike. The weather was pleasant as we're heading towards a much awaited winter season. Took us 10 minutes to reach the spot. To be at the G spot, we had to off road a bit on pur bike. Cars couldn't reach this place due to severe blockages and uneven roads so this meant there will automatically be less people around.
After off roading for a while we reached a spot from where even the bikes couldn't go any further due to huge rocks in front of us. After that place we had to climb the rocks, find a suitable place to sit and just absorb in the beautiful nature. Since all the bikes were parked at this place, some vendors had placed their small stalls selling food and other items.
You can see in the pictures above that from this parking point, there's no way to move your bikes forward. There were no cars as well. Also, in these pictures you can see the stall set up selling snacks, cigarettes, drinks and other items.
In one of these pictures, you can see some fishermen getting back with the caught fish, probably going to the city to sell them in good prices.
Anyway, we got off from our bikes and started to climb the rocks. As we wanted to experience the sunset at this beautiful place, we decided to not waste time in getting to the emd of the path, instead, find a good spot nearby and see the sunset calmly.
I found a good spot in the middle of the rocks. We set there, lit a cigarette and then just sat down in silence. It was Magical. To be so close to the nature. To get away from yhe pollution of the city. To have a short escapade.
The sea was calm. No sudden waves, no gushing of water, instead a soothing movement of the waves, hitting the rocks, providing music to the ear. I wished I could just deep down in this ocean and come out as fresh and new.
I even made a friend there. A cute little friend who came running to me as I called her.
What gives you peace?
This is what gives me peace. Good time with a good friend, away from the city life.
