Sisters – not only the builders of the closest of all the human relationships, but also the friends, the teachers and sometimes the second mothers. Elder Sisters Day is a special celebration that is set aside to celebrate the wonderful part that elder sisters play in our lives. It is also owing a debt of gratitude to their guidances, love and support they have extended to us.
Significance of Elder Sisters Day:
Elder Sisters day is celebrated on the first of august or the Sunday that precedes this day and is a time when people can show appreciation to elder sisters. To me I prefer the whole august is given to them. Unlike other holidays wherein people celebrate the ‘traditional’ family roles or structures, this specific day is dedicated and set aside for celebrating the special sisterly relationship. As elder sisters usually take the roles of taking care and protecting their younger sisters and brothers, this day is the time to do something special in return for their care to us in our lifetime.
Elder sisters are wise enough to give good advice or else they can advice from their experience and knowledge. They help us from the period of adolescence to our career choices and even in our relationships and that’s their worth. Today make sure to give thanks for the numerous occasions that have been our lifesavers as we make big decisions that affect our lives.
Every girl might have quite different lives and their paths can be totally opposite, but the love of an elder sister is always engraved. It’s a great deal of comfort to have them, as it means that one always has a place where one can go when in trouble in life. From a partner to laugh together, to share a tear during heartbreaks or from someone to cheer you up during your accomplishments, elder sisters are always there to support. This day is a good time to recognize their dear presence in our lives and extend our gratitude for love that these people give.
Looking back at childhood memories one will find the memories with elder sisters included in most of them. Happiness is not about the number of years invested in a close relationship, but about fewer years, more happiness, richer memories and a bond which only grows deeper with every passing day. If time allows you , go out somewhere, get a spa or nail appointment or just go out and do something fun to build more happy memories that will even further the sisterly bond.
