Between barbecue and friendships, what could be missing? [Esp-Eng]

Uno de los requisitos para poder llamarte oficialmente un adulto, es haber hecho una parrilla en casa, pero una en la que tu mismo echaste aire a los carbones, y aspiraste humo innecesariamente para que los carbones no se apagarán. Anoche fue ese día, lo hicimos y ahora podemos decir que somos adultos oficialmente.

Desde hace varias semanas mi esposo estaba planeando con su amigo reunirse, querían comer algo rico y se les ocurrió que una parrilla sería lo ideal, el único detalle es que ni ellos, ni ninguna de nosotras sus esposas había hecho una parrilla antes. Las últimas veces que participé en una parrillada me encargué de la salsa y muchas horas después, un plato con carnes estaba frente a mí mágicamente.

One of the requirements to be able to officially call yourself an adult, is to have made a grill at home, but one in which you yourself poured air into the coals, and sucked in smoke unnecessarily so the coals wouldn't go out. Last night was that day, we did it and now we can officially say we are adults.

For several weeks my husband was planning with his friend to get together, they wanted to eat something delicious and they came up with the idea that a barbecue would be ideal, the only detail is that neither of them, nor any of us wives had ever done a barbecue before. The last few times I participated in a barbecue I was in charge of the sauce and many hours later, a plate of meats was magically in front of me.

Esta vez nosotros hicimos la magia, después de varias semanas el plan se le dio a mi esposo y logramos reunirnos. Ese día como ya estábamos saboreando la parrilla, ninguno de nosotros almorzó, ya saben, para que hubiera espacio suficiente para comer la tan anhelada parrilla. Ese fue nuestro primer error, la verdad es que hacer parrilla es tardado y cuando finalmente está listo ya pasaste a la última fase del hambre.

Pero son cosas que pasan cuando hacen las cosas por primera vez y de las que aprendes, para hacerlo mejor la siguiente ocasión. Esto se hizo en casa Y aunque Honestamente estaba un poquito estresada por todo lo que iba a requerir hacer esta parrilla, como considerar el lugar donde se hacía para no molestar con el humo a los vecinos y demás, al final todo salió muy bien.

This time we did the magic, after several weeks the plan was given to my husband and we managed to get together. That day, as we were already savoring the grill, none of us had lunch, you know, so that there would be enough space to eat the longed-for grill. That was our first mistake, the truth is that grilling takes time and when it's finally ready you're already in the last phase of hunger.

But these are things that happen when you do things for the first time and you learn from them, to do better the next time. This was made at home and although I was honestly a little stressed about everything that was going to be required to make this grill, such as considering the place where it was made so as not to bother the neighbors with the smoke and so on, in the end everything went very well.

Nuestros amigos tienen un hijo de 3 años, pero ellos razonablemente decidieron que para poder vivir esta experiencia de hacer parrilla por primera vez, su bebé estaría mejor al cuidado de su abuela por un par de horas. Esto fue algo que nos sorprendió, pero que también nos pareció un bonito gesto pues probablemente estando con nosotros, el niño se aburriría y ninguno podría darle la atención que requería.

Pudimos pasar un buen rato juntos, conocernos un poco más y reír y comer juntos, actividades que nos permiten fortalecer nuestras relaciones con los demás, pero cuando es parrilla y trabajamos en equipo para hacerla, eso fortalece muchísimo más los lazos. Así que, 4 adultos oficiales pasamos una tarde/noche agradable que culminó con un divertido juego de scrabble.

Our friends have a 3 year old son, but they reasonably decided that in order to experience grilling for the first time, their baby would be better off in the care of his grandmother for a couple of hours. This was something that surprised us, but we also thought it was a nice gesture because probably being with us, the child would get bored and none of us would be able to give him the attention he needed.

We were able to have a good time together, get to know each other a little better and laugh and eat together, activities that allow us to strengthen our relationships with each other, but when it is a barbecue and we work as a team to make it, it strengthens the bonds even more. So, 4 adult officers had a nice evening that culminated with a fun game of scrabble.

Para mi, planes así sin demasiada gente o ruido, son ideales y los prefiero antes que cualquier otro plan. Puedo dedicar mi atención por completo a una o dos personas y así conocerle y atenderla sin estrés. Momentos así siempre son necesarios, la vida con amigos siempre es mejor, pero cuando hay parrilla en el plan eso lo eleva el doble.

For me, plans like this without too many people or noise are ideal and I prefer them to any other plan. I can dedicate my attention completely to one or two people and thus get to know them and attend to them without stress. Moments like this are always necessary, life with friends is always better, but when there is barbecue in the plan that makes it twice as good.
