First day of ceramics in Barcelona. [Español a continuación]

Today I went with my mother for the first time to do ceramics together.

Every Thursday we are going to learn a new technique.
Today, we've learned one called "Pinch" (I translated the catalan word "pèssic" I don't know if the technique is called differently in English).

We used terracota, it is very interesting, because when you are working with it, the colour is grey/greenish but when it dries, it has a beautiful light orange.

We started by molding the clay in order to not have air inside the piece, if there was, it could crack once we put it in the oven.

We made a ball and when it was all smooth, we shaped the piece by sticking the thumb in the middle and we started to find the shape we wanted.

My mother made a tiny jar with some textures and I made two pots to make candles :)
We did the textures with different items, tools, shells, stones, the more creative the better.
I think we will paint them and finish them next time.

'Sóc llum' means I'm light in catalan.

'Brea.the Life' Here I wanted to play a bith with the words, since by accident "the" sticked a bit separated.

I love doing pottery because I disconnect from the world, apart from spending such a nice time with my creative mother.

Have you ever done potery? If not... are you interested in trying some time?

¿Has hecho alguna vez potería? Si no... ¿estás interesado en intentarlo alguna vez?

Pottery is on my to do list, so you're one step ahead of me. Congrats! I love what you have created.

Thank you! totally, it has been onmy "to do list" for quite a while :)
Here is also in 'fashion' to gift a friend "an afternoon doing your own cup at a ceramic studio". This is also a good way to put you hands on it :)

Sóc llum, indeed. 😇

I am glad you can share these experiences with your mother 😍. A perfect combo of being together and learning new techniques. So, next Thursday a new technique?

True!! It is the perfect combo! Spending time with your loved ones doing something that inspires you.. I love it.
Let's see if I manage to post next Thursday.. because that coming Thursday is a very special day for me 😉🙃

Dear @llunasoul,
Our previous proposal expired end of December and the Hivebuzz project is not funded anymore. May we ask you to review and support our new proposal (https://peakd.com/me/proposals/248)?
Thank you for your help!

Done!

Thank you for your support @llunasoul, much appreciated!

That looks like a fun and rewarding way to spend time with your mother. I like the natural vibes of the clay. Plus, it is functional when it's done! Very nice 😌 I would love to make some pottery one day 🌤

Thanks for passing by! It's a very gratifying medium to put ones hands on! Try it if you can.
Is not just that is fun and relaxing, that in the end of the day, you have a piece you can use or give as a present to a loved one. You then see the value it gets by the fact you made it, it has a part of you in it :)

That's a neat way to look at it. In that regard, pottery seems like it has more soul in it than drawing or painting 😊 but all art is rewarding in its own right. Have a great day!
