Is the home meant to be empty?
Is there need for Continuity of generations??
Today has made it a month since we unwrapped another bundle in our family. No more children, it's the grandchildren Era for my mom, the children era for my sister and the aunty era for me.
I have been doing my Big aunty duties for one month now since we left the hospital. It has been a long journey though, but our bundle of joy came in before the expected time. It was around that exact time two years ago, my sister was rushed to the hospital in the early hours of the morning.
After a long period of Labour and little complications, we were able to welcome the first Grandbaby of the family. The nurses handed over the baby to us and I couldn't help but melt at the sight of the beauty.
And then at the exact time last we welcomed the second grandbaby of the house, another girl🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳.
We stayed in the hospital for few days just to make sure both the mother and the baby were sound and good to go.
Newborns come with this unexplainable Aura. Just like light that brightens up the whole house and darkness disappears, babies switch the whole environment and radiate more positive energy. Imagine a house without these little things, at least one, I would tell of so much boredom.
In my culture, women tend to place much more value on their grandchildren than her children. They draw strength from their grandchildren and most grandchildren grow up with their grandparents.
Fact is their children grow old so quickly, leave home, go to school, start their career, get married and start another family leaving them home alone and kind of behind.
Older people get depressed easily especially in an empty house, so they find solace in requesting their grandchildren to stay with them. There's ensured care and continuity of lineage with kids.
Back up mine, we've been having sleepless nights ever since we came from the hospital. Our new baby is not sick but she kept crying throughout the first two weeks of birth. One night, my aunt asked us to pray for her so that she will sleep😂😂😅.
I stepped in to save the day, I took full responsibility for the night serenading the ears of that angel with lovely tunes till she slept off.
She is a very healthy baby , she is breastfeeding beautifully and she weighed a whopping 4.3 at three weeks. Family is everything, We have a very beautiful home and I just can't wait to recreate mine soon.
