This is one of the profession I didn't choose to be when I was growing up but rather it chose me. Now I'm going to share my story on how I became an hospitality personel (bartender and a waiter). Being an hospitality personel or an hotelier, I really didn't liked it at first but I was made to understand that I have to love it in order for me to enjoy the fun part of it, cause there's the saying that I always tell people about chasing their passion in order for success to follow them.
Now back to the story on this profession chose me. In my final year in college, things were kinda hard for me then and there was literally no one to run to so, I applied for as a waiter in a newly established hotel close to my environment.
That's how the journey began. I literally worked as a waiter for like a year and I can say that it was challenging, hectic, and fun because of the tips, smiles!. But honestly I'd say it was overwhelming trying to learn the culture, the rules that guide it and also had to work hard on my personal hygiene due to the fact that I'm a food handler.
Of course being an hotelier is okay but it did stopped me from doing a lot of things, like my music career was put on hold and some of my other gigs that also fetches me income were out on hold due to the limited time.
At first I hated the being an hotelier because it made me stopped doing alot of things that I love doing due to the time frame. During my early experience as an hotelier I was made to understand that I've to give it all and also have to love the job in other for me to enjoy it as a profession and career.
Being an hotelier was based on the hardship I was going through in my final year in college. I was literally left with no choice than to go for the job in other to fund my examination fees, school fees and some other things that also need funding.
A year after i graduated from college, I resigned and I looked elsewhere for another job, applied for so many job entries but I didn't get any. I was ignoring and running from working in hospitality industry. I thought about it deeply and I decided in me that I'll continue being an hotelier and to my greatest surprise when I applied for a position as a bartender in a 4.5 star hotel in my community I was given the job and I decided this is the profession I'm going to go with cause i didn't choose it but it chose me. I'd called that fate.
So I'd like to add that being an hotelier as always been the best thing that happened to me. Now I'm enjoying it and I've decided to make it my passion and I'm very sure that success would come along with it.
