Cómo les comenté en un post anterior, nos encontramos en un proceso de reparaciones porque dentro de nuestros planes está el irnos de la ciudad y es necesario hacerle estos cambios para que tenga un mejor aspecto y así quienes vengan a ver la casa se sientan más motivados a comprarla.
Habíamos reparado una pared importante en la cocina pero también debíamos"atacar" otras áreas de la casa. Una de ellas era la sala que tenía una pared bastante afectada por la humedad.
Pero antes de pasar al antes, durante y después de ese proceso les voy a compartir lo que fue el inicio de la reparación de cuarto más afectado de casa y por qué llegó a estar en tan terrible estado.

As I told you in a previous post, we are in a process of repairs because within our plans is to move out of the city and it is necessary to make these changes to make it look better and so those who come to see the house feel more motivated to buy it.
We had repaired an important wall in the kitchen but we also had to "attack" other areas of the house. One of them was the living room, which had a wall badly affected by humidity.
But before we move on to the before, during and after of that process I am going to share with you what was the beginning of the repair of the most affected room of the house and why it got to be in such a terrible state.
Este cuarto es el que está ubicado en el centro de la casa, junto a la cocina. Era de mi cuñado cuando ellos vivían acá.
Cuando el decidió emigrar no se porque tuvo la loca idea de mandar a quitar la ventana que había ahí y colocar una pared.
El cuarto quedó completamente sellado y sin ventilación. Sumado a esto era uno de los más afectados por las lluvias y el vapor que se producía ahí dentro no era normal.
Por mucho tiempo mantuvimos ese cuarto cerrado, con humedad, calor y agua que en ocasiones quedaba estancada ya que no tenía por donde salir.
Yo, para ser sincera, me preocupaba muy poco por esto por cómo acá no teníamos nada importante, le restaba importancia a lo que pasara adentro.
En ocasiones limpiaba, secaba el agua y trataba de ventilar pero ya luego cerramos la puerta y el problema volvía a surgir.
Hasta que un día entré y me di cuenta de lo deteriorado que se había puesto, y luego de que surgen todos estos planes sentí una enorme necesidad de comenzar las reparaciones.
El problema se soluciona inicialmente arreglando el techo, y como les dije antes, esto por los momentos no va a poder ser posible. Así que hice lo que estaba en mis manos para que luciera mejor y mejorara el tema de la ventilación y humedad.
Raspé todas las paredes con una espátula y también parte del techo. El calor ahí dentro era insoportable, había mucho vapor por la humedad, pero ahí estuve como una hora retirando toda esa pintura desprendida.
Luego barrí todo lo que había caído al suelo y pase un par de veces la mopa para que quedara bien limpio el piso y todo luciera mejor. Desde entonces hemos mantenido la puerta del cuarto abierta y el problema de humedad mejoro un mundo.
En ese caso no sirve de nada pintar las paredes con la cal porque se moja demasiado y sería un mal gasto de material porque se arruinaría súper rápido. Pero al menos así hemos detenido el deterioro por humedad.

Until one day I came in and realized how dilapidated it had become, and after all these plans came up I felt an enormous need to start repairs.
The problem is initially solved by fixing the roof, and as I told you before, this is not going to be possible at the moment. So I did what I could to make it look better and improve the ventilation and humidity issue.

Al otro día del que se pintó la cocina, me dediqué a raspar la pared de la sala. En un principio me dió un poco de temor porque el aspecto con el que había dejado la pared era terrible, pero como dicen, hay que confiar en el proceso. Si no lo hacía en ese momento con ese impulso que tuve, no lo hacía nunca.

La sala fue algo que demoró unos 3 días en lograr. El primer día yo raspé, al día siguiente mi esposo aplicó la primera capa de pintura en esa pared donde estaba la ventana y la parte de la puerta del frente.
También inicio con el raspado de la pared lateral. Ya la sala iba teniendo otra pinta solo con es capa de pintura. Esta vez el color de la cal era gris, me enteré que la vendían de colores y por supuesto debían probar otro color que no fuera el blanco. La bolsa de 6 kg aprox. Tiene un costo de 2.8$
The room was something that took about 3 days to accomplish. The first day I scraped, the next day my husband applied the first coat of paint on that wall where the window and the front door were.
He also started with the scraping of the side wall. Already the room was getting another paint job with only one coat of paint. This time the color of the lime was gray, I found out that they sold it in different colors and of course they had to try another color than white. The bag of 6 kg approx. has a cost of 2.8$.
Al otro día continuaron las labores. Mi esposo aplicó la segunda capa en la pared que había pintado y comenzó darle dos manos de pintura a la pared del costado.
Durante el proceso se levantaban otros tramos de pintura y le tocaba irlos sacando con la espátula y pintando.
The next day the work continued. My husband applied the second coat to the wall he had painted and began to apply two coats of paint to the wall on the side.
During the process, other stretches of paint would come up and he had to scrape them off with a spatula and paint.
Es increíble como con una simple capa de pintura puede cambiar tanto un espacio. No saben cuánto tiempo estuve detestando nuestras paredes, primero por ese terrible color y después por el tema de la humedad.
Ya luego que todo había secado, limpiamos bien el piso y luego acomodé todo en su lugar.
El resultado me encantó a pesar de no estar terminado. Que piensan ustedes? Pronto les seguiré compartiendo más cambios positivos en nuestro hogar. 😊✨
It's amazing how a simple coat of paint can change a space so much. I can't tell you how long I hated our walls, first because of that terrible color and then because of the humidity.
After everything had dried, we cleaned the floor well and then I put everything in its place.
I loved the result even though it wasn't finished. What do you think? I will continue to share more positive changes in our home soon. 😊✨
