Welcome to another lightpainting and AI experiment!
An artificial intelligence creates lightpainting images just by entering descriptive words.
Let's get one thing straight up front. The following images are NOT lightpainting images created by a human during a long exposure! In fact. It is not light painting at all.
I'm sure I'm making myself unpopular with some lightpainters with this experiment, because lightpainting it is all about doing everything during one exposure time and not doing any graphic postprocessing in Photoshop, but I wanted to know in what form an AI can simulate a lightpainting image based only on the input of a few descriptive words.
To give the AI a guideline I used the following words as "promts":
lightpainting, moving light, torch, traces, fire, sparklers, fibre optics, orb, shadow, smoke, model, silhouette, backlight, colorfull, complimentary colors, night, darkness, lost place, tunnel, Wide angle lens
I have used these words in different combinations and I was very surprised by the results.
These were the results:
The results remind me of the days when I did my first lightpainting experiments. In my first paintings I experimented with steel wool and shortly after that I tried to paint my first Orb. Some time later I started to work with models. Same with the AI. The results are stunning, amusing and scary at the same time.
AI stands for artificial intelligence and refers to computer systems designed to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence. These systems learn from data and experience and improve their performance over time. AI is used in many areas, in our experiment for example in speech processing, visual perception and design.
Lightpainting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.
