Luck and Hardwork

The last two weeks or so have probably been one of my luckiest weeks ever. 3-4 events with a one in a million chance of happening all work out in my favour. There was even this one whereby if I had conviction (or had been stupid about it) I could have probably changed my life, lol. Because of this luck, I have been feeling rather invincible lately, like I can take on anything. But then I also got thinking, I had been working hard on some of these things for so long with little to no progress or returns. Sometimes I had progress, but it's been quite slow, all of a sudden boom, some extremely lucky thing that some of that work couldn't get me.

What is the intersection between luck and hard work?

There's been a lot of lucky people who have been lucky with things that they haven't ever put effort into. But a majority of the time I have noticed that the luckiest people often get super lucky in aspects that they've been putting a lot of work into. Since I've been in the crypto space a lot of recently, let me use examples from there. Yesterday, I came online to see some noise about some NFT mints on Zora. Apparently, some Nft mint (by Zachbxt) that only cost 0.3 dollars per one (people were allowed to mint as much as they wanted) was all of a sudden sitting at a floor price of 1400 dollars (Someone minted 321 💀). It just exploded in price, started selling at 150 dollars, 300 dollars and then skyrocketed. Obviously, I was asking myself where I was when everyone was minting this thing, but let's forget about that one.

Zach has been doing those NFT mints for ages. Each time he solves a crime he drops an NFT, and there are people who mint them and don't get anything. Essentially they just do it as a way of showing him appreciation. Among those who got lucky to see such insane gains, there's people who have been minting them for fun, some just to support him, some might have just come across it randomly, and then there are some that it could have been their first mint.

Luck is crazy, but for things like that, effort is required. Cause even as I write this I don't know how NFT mints on Zora work (I'll go and learn it of course, how will I get lucky if I don't know? 😁)

I am of the school of thought that believes that hardwork and luck work hand in hand. I believe those who work harder are more likely to get lucky and more likely to get lucky multiple times.

This is why whenever I hear or witness lucky stories I am not envious, because I don't know how hard the person worked to be able to get that lucky.

I want to get lucky many more times, so I better get back to work.

The harder I work, the luckier I get

Both are important. We have nothing to do with luck and we can't control it but we can do hard work which maximizes the chances of luck.

Exactly. All we can do is work hard to maximize your chances
