For People.

There's always this urge we have to be seen or noticed by people. When we do things, we want someone to witness what we did, speak of it, and be recognised for it. And that's exactly where the pleasing comes from. The urge to want to be seen sometimes blinds us from seeing the truth.

The truth of what our actions are doing to our souls and the result of the consistent actions in our lives. Before you know it, if someone doesn't see you, you become depressed. You feel like the world is against you, and you begin to hate yourself for it. Thereby hating yourself for doing beautiful things.

There's nothing fun in doing something for people to see because no matter what, you can't please people. The more you try to please them, the more you get angry by their actions to what you've put all your efforts into.

The fact that you didn't give yourself that pat on the back first after all your efforts makes you end up not valuing what you did. And most especially, the fact that you did it for people and not you is already a bummer.

The truth is that people can't be pleased. Even you, there are things some people do or say that get on your nerves. Have you ever sat to think maybe those people were also doing it for you to see because they thought you'd approve? Now, go back memory lane to how you reacted. Was it real? Truthful? Or filled with plain disgust or pretence?

Apply your result to your real-life situation and think back to your actions in life. Ask yourself this question- Is this for me? Or for someone else to see? If it is for you and you are really sure that after deep reflection that it truly is, then be happy and learn to congratulate yourself before anyone else.

But, if it is the latter, then reread this post again and again until it finally sinks in to why you are depressed in life. Why not try to be the former? Even if it is just for a little moment, try to do something because you really want to and do it privately that no one will see, then applaud yourself for the efforts you put into it.

There's this great beauty and an awesome sense of accomplishment you feel deep within you when what you worked on for you works out. Not for your parents, family, or friends, but for you. I don't know about you, but my face lightens up and could possibly light up a room literally if what I truly want and work on gets successful. I scream and rejoice for myself and would by myself do something nice to celebrate my achievement.

It doesn't matter. It could be something small or something that looks insignificant to others that may find it. It doesn't matter. What matters is that it is for me, and I am genuinely pleased with it.

You'll notice the more you take this into notice and act on it, you start loving yourself more, seeing yourself in a new light and appreciating every little step you take.
