When we drive into the city , our city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands for those of you that don’t know my country of origin. I get sad and happy at the same time. We left the United States of America in a state of happiness because of our family memory trip.
But it’s May 4th the day we remember the war and all the people we lost.
The official website tells us:
Every year at 8 pm on 4 May, the Dutch commemorate civilians and soldiers who have died in the Kingdom of the Netherlands or elsewhere in the world since the outbreak of the Second World War, both in war situations and in peacekeeping missions, with two minutes of silence. Prior to this homage, a commemorative service is held at the National Monument on the Dam square in Amsterdam, with speeches and the laying of wreaths. Source :

We turn on the tv for the talkshows and see the families talking about all their loved ones lost in the war. Past and present.
It’s also the day we stay silent for two minutes at 20 o’clock pm. We talk bout this with our children and also talk about Ukraine. Because it’s all war and all war victims in the past , now and in the future.
Again sad and happy at the same time.
After a great two weeks with no tv, radio and newspaper is this also the moment to realise that the world didn’t stop turning and having troubles. War, prices of
fuel and groceries. Nothing changed!
Also The day that president Zelenskyy was in our country. He said think about our people lost and the war that is still going on. We need to never forget.
Its also a big day for lovers of Star Wars. I take this day to show my Star Wars selfies.
