Life without internet

in #hive-109288last month

We are living in a digital world, and right now it’s hard to think about life without the internet, as most of our tasks are dependent on internet connectivity. Our daily lives and the national economy can be hampered if there is no internet connection for several days. Many of us say that human interaction will be increased if there is no internet connection. Some people accept it whereas others deny it.

Today I am sharing the experience of staying without internet for 6 days. In this digital world, a country’s people staying without internet for 6 days isn’t a matter of joke, and nobody expected anytime for such a situation. In my country, students protested against an unfair quota system, and several students lost their lives for it, and the protest became violent. To control the spreading of news, our government stopped the mobile internet network, including broadband, which never happened before. Moreover, because of curfew, no one is allowed to go outside. Let’s come to the main topic again.

So whole country people had no access to the internet, and many things changed a lot. I asked some friends and cousins how they were spending their time in such a situation. Almost all of them shared, and I noticed the similar patterns. So, I am sharing how time passed during the time.

Without an internet connection, my Hive activity stopped completely as I had no way to access my Hive account. Although there was no internet connection, the electricity supply was continuous, and I could turn on my PC. I opened my Word software and started writing articles for the upcoming day, especially to publish when I feel uninterested in writing an article. So, as a writer, I didn’t stop writing articles even if there was no internet connectivity.

I always appreciate spending quality time with family members, and I am always ready for family time, family discussions, and gossip because I believe that it can strengthen the bond between family members. It used to happen sometimes only, but because of no internet connection, everyone was free, and my siblings and parents were in my room most of the time, and to be honest, I enjoyed a lot with them. Each day the same thing happened, and I think it’s what I want even after the return of the internet connection.

My siblings were getting bored, and they requested me to play indoor games, and I didn’t refuse them. I played Ludo and Carrom games with them. In fact, my father also joined us to play games with us. I know I spent a lot of time playing those games, but I think I didn’t have any serious tasks to do at that time either. So, I think it was quality time, and I didn’t face any kind of loss for it.

On the dining table, everyone was present before time, and my sister teased, saying why everyone came in dining table so early. We took our breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner together, and it was natural for us, but in the case of other families, it was different, but in the 6 days they also finished their breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner together, and it’s good in my opinion.

In the case of sleep, everyone went to sleep early during the day, and from a health perspective, it was good. I am sure if there were internet connections then it was nearly impossible to go to sleep so early. It also says that how many times we waste time using our device, especially before the time of sleep.

It was a similar situation in most of the family and passed the situation in a similar way, but the situation showed a different side of us. I think without the internet the life is not bad, but I know it’s impossible to continue for a long time.

wow, no internet for six days?

I thought you are from India. Is it a part of India this affected? cos i know few Indians that are online the past few days

I am from Bangladesh (a neighbor of India). As well as I know there are no issues like that in India and internet blackout happened only in my country. Still, the internet connection is not so good as the speed is very slow, and Google+ other social media access is prohibited.
I hope you are fine.

oh alright, stay safe

I was already getting worried about your absence. I checked discord and saw that you aren't online on different occasions...I have been checking your blogs to know when you show up..now I know why you have been away

Really, it's difficult to stay that long without Internet but you did utilized the opportunity by bonding more with your family

I hope the issue in your country gets resolved

I was just talking about this very situation the other day with my Mom. She was born in 1946... No smart phones, internet, or Social Media. In those days... if you had a flat tire. You either changed it or waited for someone to stop and help. We would all be hesitant nowadays... concerned that someone that stopped to help, was really just wanting to rob us... Much like the current world events... we rely on technology, for almost everything we do. I can remember back in 1999; the company I worked for , stopped issuing paper checks and went to Dirct Deposit. So many of the employees there were from the same generation as my Mom. They were quite upset to make this change; many of them didn't have a bank account, let alone a computer. So you see... I get it. But what I also know to be true... It is always a good idea, to unplug once in a while... go outside... get some sunlight, and take a few breaths. I hope you are having a good week so far... the weekend is right downhill!!

It's good to stay disconnected from the internet and enjoy some quality moments with family members but I think we need mental preparation. In my country internet blackout occurred for 6 days and it was a huge time. Can you imagine one country being disconnected from the internet for 6 days in the digital world? Even phone calls in abroad were also kind of prohibited.

It's good that you utilized your time with something fun in the absence of the internet. A great time to bond with your family :)

It wasn't a hard time for me because I knew I could survive without the internet but I think it was not so easy for everyone who is addicted to using a smartphone all the time. But still I also felt bad because I was disconnected from my friend and relatives.
