"No rush", says the fig tree.

This spring I am excited and absolutely thrilled by the awakening of the fig trees.
Although wild ones are all around, I hadn't observed them thoroughly during their whimsical spring transformation. We are talking about real beauty in these small leaves that slowly take shape and unfold.

And these funny little fruits that pop up on all the branches.

IMG_5158.jpg

I guess it happens to everyone. There are so many things that surround us, but we don't pay attention to them. And how could we? We would get crazy with all the information, movements, sounds, smells that are out there. But honestly, when we are talking about plants, taking the time to look around is always rewarding.

IMG_5151.jpg

These leaves are so delicate and soft, like all babies. No comparison to the hard leaves that they will become in a while in order to get protected from its enemies. See any similarity?

IMG_5143.jpg

We often act as if protecting ourselves and setting boundaries is wrong and selfish. Well, it is as natural as the itchy leaves of the fig tree or the thorns of a rose.
Healthy boundaries to protect ourselves. As simple as that.

IMG_5150.jpg

Trees are welcoming. I saw dozens of snails just on a single tree. They know well that we all need each other and we can co-exist beautifully.

IMG_5149.jpg

It seems that during these last weeks I have created a decent collection of photos capturing their coming back to life. The unusually cold weather kept the buds closed for quite some time. These guys really know how to take all the time they need. No rush.

This post was inspired by the #SublimeSunday by @c0ff33a and #beautifulsunday by @ace108. Have a lovely day or night beautiful people!

There really is nothing quite as pretty as flowers, plants, and trees as they begin to grow and bloom. Very nice indeed!

Oh yes, I totally agree @wwwiebe, pure joy! Thank you for your lovely input!

I love figs and green figs! Our host in Limenaria brought us a bowl of fresh figs every morning, this is one of our fondest memories.
It's incredible how the fruit is born at the same time as the leaves!
Your teacher in photography must be pleased... you made such a nice post from just a few leaves!

It's incredible how the fruit is born at the same time as the leaves!

This happens only with the wild trees. The trees that make the figs we eat, first make a lot of leaves and then the fruits. And especially the green ones that you (and I) like are an adventure to find amongst the also green leaves. We did this job with Stefanos for two summers, really hard to find them all :)

My teacher is very proud, especially for the second photo.

It is amazing for how long I observe them. I started on February, here is the first photo from February's #gardenjournal

I love that Hive works as my journal, haha! Since then, I have taken dozens of photos! A kind of obsession. They stayed in this early form for about two months due to the unusual cold weather. And while I was admiring their patience, I got impatient and hurt my back. That's the personal reason of writing this post actually. A tribute to my fig tree teacher. This post of leaves as you say!

Thanks for the lesson on fig trees. I also have a very small one, I bought it in a cardboard box in a supermarket. It didn't like what I gave it because it didn't grow much. In the meantime, he has gotten used to the winter here and seems to be doing better. It has a less lobed leaf... and the box says the fruit is not edible, which intrigued me. It's probably wild? In the meantime, I can find increasingly large fig trees at florists but I don't have room to plant them.

The teacher knows best, I'm trying to find a favorite photo but I like them all.
Patience is one of the most valued virtues and I agree with that, I mean I like patience but of course, we can't respect it all the time.

Not edible? Maybe a wild one then, yes. When it wakes up, you can send us a photo and maybe we can understand what it is. Even if it is wild, there is a way to eat the figs, as "spoon sweet". Have you tried these kind of sweet in Thassos? Or maybe you also have it in Romania, I wouldn't be surprised :)

I used to be one of the most impatient persons you can meet. I have done a lot of progress, but still forgetting in from time to time.

Spoon sweet, I don't know what it is, I guess you don't mean dried figs?
Thanks for the promised help, after Easter, I will send a photo.

I used to be one of the most impatient persons you can meet.

I think it's more of a feminine "quality". Magda is the same. It bothers me that she's impatient with flowers too. If one wilts or gets in trouble she pulls it right out of the ground. I'd like to give it a better chance at life...

I am not sure if the recipe is good, but it is in English and you will get an idea. I loooove quince spoon sweet with almonds, not a real fan of wild figs! Next time you will be in Greece, you can try it!

I think plants are the only ones I am very patient with.
You think it is "feminine"? Interesting.

I understand what this is about, in Romania they do this with green nuts. Now I realize that I have seen this in Bulgaria, and in Thassos. Unfortunately, much too sweet with what I can eat now.

I've known more women than men who have no patience.

Thank you for taking the time to explain wild figs to me. The hazelnut quince I think is tastier, that's what Magda likes so much.

Lots of figs here, too. And they are lagging behind a bit at my latitude, near the middle of Bulgaria but south of the Balkan Mountain. I saw the tops getting green and soon they shall be doing the thing they do in your photos. I'll be quite busy this week and i might miss it, though. Also, a period of rains have started.

You've got a beautiful moment captured and a beautiful collection! Good luck with the figs and all!

Thank you Manol! These are wild trees and should have opened a lot earlier here, but due to the weird weather that we had they showed a lot of patience and it took them a lot of time to get here.

Oh, I wish we had some rain too! Already very hot during daytime.

I hope you will be able to capture the beautiful moment of awakening and the unfolding of the leaves! Good luck to you too!

I loved this post, and the photos were simply wonderful! This is a somewhat "generic" reply that I have saved, to welcome new folks that post in my community... or that might need some help posting on the blockchain. Thank you so much @wesphilbin for the great feedback and your warm welcome!

I always appreciate some good advice. I think you are so right about "All content is mine unless otherwise stated" sentence at the end. I had thought about it, but then thought it might be an exaggeration. I always mention my sources when I add sth not mine, and I thought that was enough. I will add it though as I understand that it might be confusing to others.

Have read the rules and guidelines, will check it again next time before I post :)
If there is anything I have misunderstood, please let me know so I can fix it. I found the general idea of this community wonderful anyway!

Have a great time!

If you post via PeakD, you have the ability to create "templates" for use when creating posts. You can add your favorite community, personal banners/footers, and even the devices as well as any apps or software used for editing... I don't want people to think I am accusing them of wrongdoing, and I sure don't want to turn anyone away. As I mentioned... I just want to create a positive space for people to come and share their posts. But the concept of plagiarism will, sadly, always be an issue on the blockchain. So why not "cover your tracks" if you will! If you have any questions about creating those templates, please do give me a shout-out...

Oh, authenticity is a big issue in life in general! I wish we could be true to ourselves and others.
Thank you for taking the time to make things clear, I really appreciate it.
