Today I decided to go for a short walk in my local park, where I sat for a while on one of the many wooden benches. Most are situated close to the pathway that I walk along. As I sat there thinking of past events in my lifetime, two Police officers walked past the bench in front of me. Not identical to the picture (below) as that would really be most shocking indeed š
- Anyway, their passing reminded by of two sad events in my life that I want to share with you Today.
The first event was my Grand-Fathers Funeral on my Mother's side of the family. I remember this event quite clearly because I was only 12 years old at the time. So this was my very first "Cremation Funeral" that my parents thought I should attend.
My Step-Grandfather named Albert was quite a selfish man really, always sat in his special chair in front of the Television. This was his own personal chair that nobody else was allowed to sit in. Situated directly in front of an old electric fire. He very rarely said anything, just watched the Horse racing on TV. Going to the Pub and Gambling were his only two interests in life (as an old man) to be honest.
My second memory is of a much more dramatic type of Funeral that I really did not want to attend. I protested to my Dad but he insisted as it was a mark of respect to his late brother. So I had no choice, and had to go! My second Funeral at just fourteen years old.
As soon as we arrived at the church I noticed my Cousin was standing in handcuffs joined to a Police Officer. These two male Police were dressed in suites and not "official uniform" (so to not offend the family). Their kind consideration of the day's sad emotions ~ Thoughtful Prison officers you might say.
My Dad explained to me that my Cousin was in Prison for "armed robbery" and serving 8 years for his crime. He had only been released for the funeral service, and then shortly after escorted back to Prison.

This is a true story, and some valuable lessons can be learnt from these events. Extended Family is also affected by the bad behaviour of other family members I think... š¤
