Today was Garth Mobey's Memorial/Celebration of Life. Garth Mobey was an artist, a musician, and a father. Practically speaking he is my father-in-law.
Around 2 weeks ago Garth passed after 7 years of living after suffering a stroke that paralyzed one side of his body. Subsequently, he was unable to play guitar again.
Garth is playing guitar again, in the afterlife. No more pain. No more frustration.
The Memorial was amazing. His daughter, Claire who is the love of my life sang just a few songs that were important to her and Garth. This was different from all the other live events Claire had done on stage.
This was not about performing correctly or properly. This was about soul. About music. It was about love.
There was a massive amount of food and very typically we over catered like a boss. So the house still has a lot of platter food that needs to be eaten.
Garth's younger brother Barry is also visiting for the Memorial and tomorrow we go to scatter Garth's ashes.
Barry to this day works with guitars and repairs them. He was also in two bands in his years and they wrote a massive number of songs. Truly, the Mobeys have a massive amount of musical talent.
With all the preparation before and the Memorial. I have not been able to much writing or posting but I wanted to write this as a memoir of my own. It is something that will be encoded on to the blockchain and remain on my posts forever and I can always search for it and find it.
I can't write or play music. But this I can do.
Go well Garth. I will keep my promise and look after your daughter.
Thank you for reading this post.
Cheers!
