Yo amo la música, siempre la he amado, desde que era una niña. Mis gustos musicales son bastante diferentes a los gustos de mi comunidad. Creo que los vecinos se preguntaran algunas veces si no me canso de escuchar música, ya que lo primero que hago al levantarme es encender mi computadora y colocar música.
I love music, I have always loved it, since I was a child. My musical tastes are quite different from the tastes of my community. I think the neighbors sometimes wonder if I don't get tired of listening to music, since the first thing I do when I get up is turn on my computer and play music.
Lo cierto es que mis gustos casi no se han actualizado, sino que más bien van retrocediendo a los años pasados, los 80 y 70. Aunque a veces pasa que algún artista nuevo me llama la atención y decido darle una oportunidad, o descubro artistas que han estado en la industria de los que no tenía ni idea. Pero bien, mi idea, es hablarle sobre algunos artistas y canciones que me han gustado durante mucho tiempo, y otras recientes que han sido muy significativas para mi.
The truth is that my tastes have hardly been updated, but rather go back to the past years, the 80s and 70s. Although sometimes it happens that a new artist catches my attention and I decide to give it a chance, or I discover artists that have been in the industry that I had no idea about. But well, my idea, is to tell you about some artists and songs that I have liked for a long time, and some recent ones that have been very meaningful to me.
Primero quiero empezar diciendo que muy poco escucho canciones en español, son pocos los artistas que me gustan, así que mi biblioteca musical está repleta con cantantes de habla inglesa. Siendo honesta, de allí surgió mi gusto por el idioma y fue mi impulso para aprenderlo.
First I want to start by saying that I rarely listen to songs in Spanish, there are few artists that I like, other than that, my music library is filled with English-speaking singers. To be honest, that's where my love for the language came from, and it was my impulse to learn it.
Desde mi niñez y adolescencia siempre me gustó Evanescence, y por eso una de mis canciones favoritas de ellos es Hello. Esta canción es una balada muy triste que trata sobre la perdida de un ser querido y la asimilación de este suceso. Es una de esas que cuando la escucho y la canto, enseguida vienen a mi unas inmensas ganas de llorar.
Since my childhood and adolescence, I always liked Evanescence, and that's why one of my favorite songs of theirs is Hello. This song is a very sad ballad about the loss of a loved one and the assimilation of this event. It is one of those songs that when I listen to it and sing it, I immediately feel like crying.

Cuando entré a la universidad descubrí otras bandas que no muchos conocían, al menos no mis amigos. Escuché una banda llamada Circa Survive. Me encantó de inmediato, era un estilo del rock alternativo que pocas veces había escuchado. Los sigo desde entonces, y dos de las canciones que más me gustan de ellos son: Your Friends are Gone y Flesh and Bone. Una es una canción de rock bastante sutil con un mensaje que habla desde la perspectiva de que a veces nos encerramos en nuestro propio mundo porque creemos que a nuestros amigos no les importan nuestros problemas o tal vez se cansan de escuchar lo mismo. La otra, una balaba bastante subliminal que habla sobre los errores que solemos cometer una y otra vez.
When I entered college, I discovered other bands that not many people knew about, at least not my friends. I heard a band called Circa Survive. I loved them immediately, it was a style of alternative rock that I had rarely heard. I've been following them ever since, and two of my favorite songs by them are: Your Friends are Gone and Flesh and Bone. One is a pretty subtle rock song with a message that speaks from the perspective that sometimes we shut ourselves off in our own world because we think our friends don't care about our problems, or maybe they get tired of hearing the same old stuff. The other, a rather subliminal ballad that talks about the mistakes we tend to make over and over again.

Regresé en el tiempo y ahora escucho Queen, Kiss, Metallica, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, The Cure, pero he descubierto artistas como AURORA(Artista Noruega), RUELLE, Lana del Rey, Brandi Carlile, CHVRCHES, Kalandra (banda Noruega), Manchester Orchestra, The Highwomen, entre muchos otros.
Now, a grown woman, I realized that I don't like current music much anymore, at least not all of it. I went back in time, and now I listen to Queen, Kiss, Metallica, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, The Cure, but I have discovered artists like AURORA (Norwegian artist), RUELLE, Lana Del Rey, Brandi Carlile, CHVRCHES, Kalandra (Norwegian band), Manchester Orchestra, The Highwomen, among many others.

Ahora quisiera hablarles un poco de Brandi Carlile. Es relevante porque de cierta manera me siento identificada con su historia y su proceso como escritora. Esta artista la descubrí por el soundtrack de una película con la canción The Story, creo que es la canción más importante de su carrera porque fue la que la llevó a la cima. Brandi Carlile pasó muchas cosas durante su adolescencia y su adultez. Ahora es una gran cantante del género Country y reconocida en el género Americana Roots. He escuchado toda su discografía y es una cantante sin igual. Ella junto a otras artistas del género Country formaron una banda llamada The Highwomen, que viene siendo la contra parte de la banda The Highwaymen conformada en 1985 por los cantantes: Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings y Kris Kristofferson, los grandes hombres del country.

La banda de Brandi Carlile conformada en el 2019 y en la cual están integradas Maren Morris, Amanda Shires y Natalie Hemby, cuentan con un solo álbum de estudio que sin duda alguna es una cosa demasiado hermosa y sobre todo me encanta que hablen sobre el poder femenino. Escribieron una canción titulada con el nombre de la banda Highwomen que habla sobre las mujeres, historias reales que han sido parte del crecimiento del poder femenino. Situaciones hostiles por las que nuestros antepasados tuvieron que pasar solo por ser mujeres. Esta es una de las canciones que escucho y por más que lo intente no puedo evitar el nudo en la garganta y las lágrimas.
